Asko 10505 washer. Made a screeching noise. Turned out the motor was turning the belt and the drum was stuck. I can usually spin the drum but then it start to stick in various before becoming mightily stuck. I have to really reef on it to get it unstuck.

It's a Model 10505 washer. Is that the same thing as what you mentioned?

  • blaise_corco Sep 09, 2011

Nothing in the trap except some sludge. Plus I notice that the tub is leaking now. There is still water there, but it won't pump out. Perhaps the large host has a clog in it. I'm getting a bad feeling about this.

Hello.

If your washer is indeed a WFL2066, than the not spinning is directly relatedto the unit not draining.

These machines by design cannot spin if the drain is inadequate.

Here is the first step in resolving the problem, you need to access the drainpump/filter to clean it.

To reach the filter and clean it...

**Unplug the washer from the dryer or wall, or turn off the 30amp breakerat the home service panel...safety first**

1) Open the small square plastic door at the right bottom of thewasher.

2) Via the small hose drain any access water from the pump...this is where awet/dry shop-vac comes in handy, or a shallow pan with a few towels works aswell.

3) Then turn the pump insert/button trap counter clock-wise and pull out.Clean the trap out thoroughly running it under hot water and mild soap or yourwasher detergent and inspect inside the pump for any other foreignobjects/obstructions.

4) Re-install the lint trap insuring it is good and snug/tight. Beforeclosing up the small access door, run a short rinse spin cycle to check forleaks.

Let me know how you make out, or if you require further assistance.

Thank you for visiting our site please take a moment to rate the infoprovided for you here.

Thanks.

    Hello,
See this tip as option two to solve the problem.
However, there are several reasons thata washing machine won't drain or spin. The cause could be something as easy asa clog or something difficult that will need a licensed repairman. Start withthe simplest possible cause and work down to the more difficult causes.

    INSTRUCTION BELOW
    · A washing machine won't spin if the watercan't drain. Check hoses for any kinks or clogs that may prevent the water fromdraining. If a hose has kinks, try to straighten out the kinked hose. If itcan't be straighten sufficiently, replace the hose. If hoses are not kinked, check for clogged hoses.
    · This can be done by using the screwdrivers toremove the hoses and looking for clogs or running a water hose through theclogged hose to remove the clog. Use the rags and bucket to clean up the waterthat comes out of the hoses when they are disconnected. Once the clog iscleared, put the drain hose back into place. The washer should drain and spinnow if a clogged or kinked hose was the problem.
    · 2 If the washer still won't drain or spin, check to see if the lid is not closing all the way or if the lid switch is notclicking into place. Close the lid and make sure that it closes all the waydown. When the lid closes, the lid switch should click. If there is no clickingsound, then the switch may need to be replaced. Follow manufacturer'sdirections for replacing the switch. If the lid does not close all the way, visually check for signs that the lid is bent. If bent, try to bend it back intoplace.
    · 3 Loose or broken belts could also prevent awashing machine from draining or spinning. Pull the washer away from the walland, using the screwdrivers and wrenches, remove the back panel. Using theflashlight, visually check for any broken or loose belts. Replace any broken orloose belts. Although replacing washing machine belts is difficult, anyone whohas replaced belts on a car, lawn mower or even a bicycle chain should be ableto accomplish the task.
    · 4 Another possibility for a washing machineto not spin or drain is the pump. With the back panel still off the washer, check the pump with the voltmeter to ensure that the pump is getting power. Ifthe washer is getting power, turn on the washer and listen to find out if thepump is running but the water is still not draining. It may be necessary toremove the pump and clean it or to replace the pump with a new one. Once thepump is replaced, turn on the washer to determine if it will now drain andspin.
    · 5 If all of the above steps fail to produce awashing machine that drains or spins, then get back to me for more solutionahead .· 7 Use thescrewdrivers and wrenches to replace the panel on the washer and push it backagainst the wall.
    rate this.

    Thanks once again.

Bravos mct Dryer Loud Screeching sound upon startup ModelMEDB850WQ0

A loud screeching sound from your dryer could be caused by a few different issues. Here are a few things you can check:
  1. Belt: A worn or broken belt can cause a loud screeching sound. To check this, unplug the dryer and remove the front panel. Look for any signs of wear or damage to the belt. If it looks worn or broken, you'll need to replace it.
  2. Drum Rollers: Dryer drum rollers can also cause a loud screeching noise. You can check this by turning the drum by hand. If it feels rough or wobbles, the rollers may be worn and need to be replaced.
  3. Idler Pulley: A faulty idler pulley can cause a screeching noise. You can check this by removing the belt and spinning the pulley by hand. If it feels rough or wobbles, it may need to be replaced.
  4. Motor: A motor that is failing can also cause a loud screeching noise. You can check this by turning the drum by hand and listening for any unusual sounds coming from the motor.
If you're not comfortable checking these components yourself, it's best to call a professional to diagnose and repair the issue.

Whirlpool cabrio model # wtw5500xw1. Horrible screeching noise when it goes into spin, then shuts off

Since I don't have the service manual for this model- I'm unsure if this is a direct drive motor to transmission or belt driven through pulleys.

In first scenario motor bearing is shot

Belt driven model, belt is worn or derailed from pulley

3rd reason, clothes could be stuck between spin drum and tub assembly, causing the spin drum to jam.

Asko 10505 Washer will drain but will not spin. Initially that was the problem, but then in trying it out again the washer will fill with water, will drain but will not even wash now. Do you think it is...

You don't mention if the drum spins if you choose the spin program, if it doesn't it could be the brushes on the motor. This would be a cheaper option to try first rather than a board. sometimes you can clean the com or tap the brush carriers gently and get the motor to spin on an empty or small load.

If you're confident, with the power offer and machine isolated you can check the resistance across both the brushes and slowly rotate the motor as a test.
hope this helps

My washer has recently started thumping and banging during the spin cycle. I thought it was uneven weight distribution, but it does it every spin now. And when the spinning slows down it has started...

Hi, . according to your washer problem i m writing solution ,please read and follow it:-
  1. Most noises from a washing machine occur during the spin cycle. If you hear loud thumping during the spin, the load of clothes may have become unbalanced. Stop the washer and redistribute the clothes, then re-start it. Repeat these steps if necessary.
  2. check out this following options one by one to locate the fault in your machine.
  3. 1)Check for drum bearing failure if your washing machine is noisy on the spin cycle. Drum bearing failure is common when the bearing seals start allowing water to enter. You can take the belt off and spin the drum by hand, and if the drum rumbles, replace the bearings.2)Turn the drum by hand and listen for loud noises. If the drum itself is split or the 'spider' is corroded, broken or has come apart from the back of the drum it will create a loud noise on every turn of the drum. (When the bearings have gone bad, the noise is constant the entire time the drum is spinning.)3)Look for obvious dents and creases in the drum or look for coins or small objects stuck inside the tub underneath the drum when a horrendous noise is made while clothes are in the tub.4)Clear thewater pumpfrom obstructions like coins or small objects when a noise occurs while the washing machine is emptying water.5)Remove the sump hose and look for bra wires if you hear a light scraping noise when the drum is turned by hand. You can also check to make sure a wire isn't poking out of one of the holes in the drum. In this case, you can pull the wire out easily with pliers.6)Take the belt off and run the motor alone if you hear a high pitched squealing noise to check for motor bearing damage or wear. If you still hear the noise without the belt, it's the motor bearing.

Asko 10505 washer will not spin

Hi, 2 things to check for. Obstruction in the drain pump or faulty drain pump, brushes in the motor worn out. The easiest way to determine the pump issue is answer this question. Does it drain ? Next, turn the timer to the drain/spin cycle, obviously it should drain & spin and advance to "off". The next thing with these 10505 asko is to see if the drum rotates in both directions in the wash/agitate portion of the cycle. You can just select the short wash for this (I forget if it's #4 or #5) If not, it's worn brushes. However, you'll have to make sure the armature isn't damaged before simply installimg new brushes. We can cross that bridge when we get there. Let me know. Hope that helps, though those are just the most common problems there could be others. Good Luck
