You said,

1.Try unplugging the fridge for 5 minutes and then restarting it! This may reset the system!
2.If the freezer is so full that the rear vents are blocked then this may happen. Because the fridge and the freezer share the air!
3. If not then the freezer and the fridge have different controls and the freezer control if faulty!

then you need service. ur site has good service companies in your are for our customers!

Hello - came back from holiday and my maytag gz2626gekb had defrosted and all food was lost, we thought that one of us had left the door open by mistake so switched it off at the mains then back on and...

If the entire freezer section had warmed up i would be looking at either the condenser fan motor (located behind fridge in compressor area) or the relay and overload assembly (attached to the compressor) as your most likely suspects.
Usually if the relay and overload fail the compressor simply will not run or you will hear an audible buzz and click sound from the component.
The condenser fan motor should be running whenever the refrigerator is on. If the fan is stalling it will cause the compressor to overheat and shut off.

Now if some of the freezer items were still frozen, you may have a defrost issue causing a restriction in air flow within your unit. Your most likely culprit for this would be the defrost control board located in the refrigerator compartment top right corner above your control housing. Part number 61005988.
Good luck!

FREEZER IS FINE. FRIDGE STILL NOT COOLING

it sounds like your circulation fan is not working. it is located in the freezer compartment in front of the evaporator or very close to it. you should hear running either all the time except in the defrost cycle. on some models the fan will shut down when you open the freezer door and restart when you close it. if the fan is OK you have a problem in your defrost circuit. probably a bad heating element or a bad defrost cutout switch or bad connections in the freezer compartment. sometimes the defrost timer can go bad but not often. I have found in my experience that the problem is usually the other two components I mentioned or bad connections.

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper) between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp.

If the evaporator coils behind the back panel of the freezer are icing up because of auto defrost failure that will stop the circulation of cold air and eventually affect the freezer too.

check defrost timer, defrost heater, defrost thermostat. In most newer models the timer has been replaced by an electronic control board. If the heater and thermostat are ok it’ll be the control.

You can turn the defrost timer till it clicks and everything shuts down. The heater should now come on. If it does, replace the timer. If it doesn't, check the heater and defrost thermostat. Turn the timer again till everything starts back up to end the defrost cycle.

Freezer working fine, but no cold air to fridge

Sounds like a defrost problem. Check to see if there is any frost buildup in the back wall of the freezer. If so, it is not defrosting as it should.
  • possible causes:
  1. bad defrost timer/control unit
  2. bad defrost heater (in freezer)
  3. bad thermo switch in freezer
If you don’t know what these are then unplug the machine and let the ice melt in the freezer overnight with the door open. Then try it the next day, if is cooling fine then you need to have a service person replace one of the above items. If it still has a problem then it might be the compressor and you should probably replace the machine.
