"No signal detected" when LCD connected with DVI-D Cable

My existing configuration:
Monitor: Benq FP71E+ with VGA and DVI-D Port
Graphic Card: Nvidia 7600GT with Dual DVI-I Ports
DVI Cable: DVI-D 18+1
Motherboard: ASUS M2NE
OS: Windows XP

I am using Benq FP71E+ LCD since last two years in DVI mode. But since last one month, whenever  computer boots, I am getting an error message" No Signal Detected" after Benq Logo and screen goes blank and there is no display in DVI mode. System boots normally.

When I connected this monitor with VGA Cable to another computer having gigabyte mobo with on board nvidia graphics, the display was perfect but when I connected in DVI mode with 7600GT/9600GT graphic card, I got the same problem of no display in DVI mode.

I have even replaced my graphic card and DVI Cable, but the problem of no display continued with new Nvidia 9600GT card and new DVI-D Cable.

When I connect both DVI and VGA Cables simultaneously the display is through VGA mode only and on selecting DVI mode of monitor, the screen goes blank and input mode switches back to D-Sub.

Please help me out.... I have tried various combinations but got no succes. I want display in DVI mode on my LCD.

You have fixed it Azkeyz. MANY MANY THANKS............. You are just great.

Now, I am able to connect my Benq monitor in DVI mode on another computer and there is no such error but I am not able to connect in DVI mode on my ASUS M2NE motherboard. Does it mean there is some problem with M2NE motherboard. It that is the case, how can I rectify this. Your further assistance will be of great help..

By the way, my monitor was not under warranty and I was very worried, but your suggestion has solved my prboblem. M2NE motherboard is under warranty.

    Once again Thanks Azkeyz..

Thank you for providing your configuration details.
You have failed to specify wheather or not your LCD Display is under Warrenty.

Perhaps these simple trouble shooting procedures will get the job done.

1. use the DVI to VGA adaptor that came with your card

Plug in a regular CRT monitor to the Primary Display Output Port using the DVI to VGA adaptor
( either port can be designated as the primary by you )
I like to use the Port nearest to the motherboard as the Primary

2. plug in the your LCD monitor on Secondary Display port using your DVI cable

At this point you should be able to see your desktop on the Primary CRT Display

3. Go to the display properties and use the Nvidia Dual Display Setup Wizard

set both desktops to CLONED at a resolution of 1024x768 and set the refresh to 60Hz
which is default for most LCD displays , some have higher refresh rates , consult your user manuel

If the display resolution and refresh are set incorrectly for your CRT or LCD you will see
Signal Out of Range ( if the display has the ability to display that error message )

At this stage both displays should be showing a Windows Desktop

If you now see your desktop on both displays , you can now put the LCD on the Primary Port

No Signal Detected ( this means the display device is not receiving a signal )

If your LCD display is still displaying the error message
"No Signal Detected" after performing the trouble shooting proceedures
You may need to read the user manuel about how to enable DVI signal input.

If you are certan you have done everything correctly but still see only "No Signal Detected"

Your LCD Display may need replacement

My monitor has no signal

Monitors typically use one or more of the following connectors to your computer:
  1. VGA (15 pin connector) usually Blue
  2. DVI (multiple pin configurations exist) usually white
  3. Display Port
  4. HDMI
Your monitor must be connected with one of these connector cables, and the Input on your monitor needs to be set for the correct input type (usually automatically selects based on detection of which connector the signal is coming through).

Typical things to look for if there is no signal:
  • Cable not fully seated on one or both ends
  • Computer not turned on
  • Bad cable (rare)
  • Bad video card or on-board card in the computer
  • Bad monitor

2nd monitor does not work with DVI to VGA converter cable. My video card has VGA and DVi ouputs.

The problem could be in the adapter to the video card. There are different types of DVI connections. If the adapter does not have the proper set of pins then the card will not recognize that a monitor is connected at that port. Monitors themselves have no bearing on whether a single or dual monitor set up will work or not. Digital Visual Interface Follow this link, it may help you determine if the adapter you are using is correct for the graphics card.

A blue display box continually pops up with Input Select D sub DVI. I am thinking it is something to do with the monitor. What is wrong?

This monitor has two types of video inputs, a 15 pin VGA D-sub connector and a DVI connector.
If the video card has a 15 pin D-Sub then connect the video cable to the 15 pin D-Sub connector on the monitor.
If the video connectors are DVI then connect the video card and monitor with a DVI video cable.
You will also need to configure the monitor for either the D-Sub or DVI video input.

Acer x136w monitor, no signal. Connected parralel conector to back of computer. no signal..tried everything I know to do. Even stupidly pirchased driver whiz. nothing. ready to through monitor into th e...

No signal message on your LCD monitor screen means that your monitor is not receiving any signal from your PC graphic card. This problem "no signal" have nothing to do with the drivers installations. Have you check whether your graphic card is faulty or your cable connection properly connected/secured? ie VGA (D-sub). As far as I know there are no parallel connectors for PC Monitor connectors only, VGA(D-sub), DVI or HDMI cable interface.

Try to connect your monitor to another PC, just to test whether the LCD monitor is functional.

Hope it helps.

Benq 19' LCD Screen 3 yrs old- no signal detected on brand new PC

Have a look at the back of your computer.

See if there is more than 1 video port.

If there are 2 ports try plugging the monitor into the other port....

Sometimes motherboards have internal video cards, in this case the video port is in among the USB ports, sound and mike sockets etc.

Look for a video port away from all those other things.

Monitor says No signal digital

Is ether the monitor or video card uses both DVI or VGA port. There may be a switch on the graphic card that changes it from DVI to VGA, often outside the card.

Also is the computer monitor set to the right setting if it can use both VGA and DVI, if using DVI (of any type) it need to switch to digital, and if using VGA it need to be set to analog. This may be a physical switch or using the settings button. (see manual how to change them)

PS: VGA port is a blue D shaped port with 15 pin holes, and DVI is a white rectangle port with one port being a line.

Benq FP71E, No Image Displayed

Try checking the settings in properties for this device to make sure they are as you left them. YOu can also uninstall the drivers for the card and reinstall them to see if that takes care of the issue.
