Hello,
The wifi switch will be in one of the following places. It may have a wifi symbol which will look like radio waves. I hope this helps.

  1. Check the front edge of the laptop for a switch that goes from left to right. The light will normally go from Orange to Blue
  2. check the side edges for the wifi switch
  3. Look at the top of the Keyboard above the number keys to the right. you may find a button there.
  4. Or you can manually turn on your wifi.Click the "Start" button, and click "Control Panel." Click "Network and Internet." Click "Change adapter settings." Right-click on "Wireless Network Connection," and select "Enable" from the menu.
  5. Once you see the wifi symbol at the bottom right of the Laptop screen (near the date/time) click on it and choose your wireless network.

I recently installed windows 10 and kalilinux on my hp elite book 2530p but when i want to connect to the internet my wifi does not switch on what is the problem
Does not switch on? Do you mean you are unable to make Wifi enabled? If so, then it is suggested you contact HP support to provide the advice.
Before you speak to HP, you could try to update the wireless driver. A lot of wifi problem are caused by the outdated or corrupted driver. You could use a third party tool to scan your computer. OSToto Driver Talent is a good program. With this tool, the scanning result will be listed within a few seconds. Then you could if there is a driver issue.

Why does Wireless hardware switch not work, light stays orange and will not enable WiFi?
step one (guessing #4 down fails)
  1. are you at home, Starbucks ,air port or at work, (who's wifi)
  2. do other wifi devices work there., PC, TV, cell phones on wifi or ?
  3. if yes,#2, then move the laptop closer t the wifi router.
  4. If no and device manager shows 701 errors "? that means the drivers are wrong even infected not using HP.com drivers for your unstated OS. windows 7?
  5. on my HP laptops, it takes 2 drivers from them to work wifi,
  6. the wifi card driver must match (of up to 3 or more used new)
  7. and must have the control panel BUTTON driver working to control wifi.
  8. did you up grade it W10 and now wifi is dead , ? oops!
dv6-2155dx , seems was window 7 new, and frozen there,.
HP has no support now for this old PC. (besides asking on THEIR FORUM)

HP has short list of wifi cards they used, and only those work
HP blacklists all other non HP cards (unlike wonderful DELL)
so wrong cards are doomed to fail., as is w10
the correct card (1) is here

Wireless will not turn on
theres a switch that turns the wifi on/off
if that doesnt work, one of your function keys have a wifi on off switch. so hold function and press the F# key that has the wifi symbol on it

That switch is controller by the HP Wireless Assistant software. If you installed other WiFi software, that may cause problems with the WiFi button. You can try installing the latest version of HP Wireless Assistant. Download from your product's page at the HP support website.

WIFI not working
This is a common problem on hp laptops in the 2000 and 6000 series. It is caused by a manufacturing defect on the mainboard. You may try and update your BIOS and see if it fixs it.. If it doesnt you will have to contact HP and they will give you a free repair if you still are under warranty (the warranty is 2 years here in Denmark)
