If you have tried a head cleaning tape and no result then the heads may be faulty, the playback heads that is, as the rest seem all good.. The best thing you can do is contact a Panasonic head or local office, ask them for a referral to an authorised service center, now when in face to face contact here then ONLY ask for a "Quote" as to prospective costings, and go from there once appraised of the costings. If you can indeed make a warranty claim well then do that, but again contact the Panasonic head or local office and be guided by them.
Below is the service and repair manual to download, have a look through that too before embarking on repair etc, it just may have a few hints as to what to do?

Hi Nancy ,
An electronic element is defective . The camera needs to be returned for free repair or replacement .
Best regards ,
fanaudi .
Was this camera supposedly new??? If so then you should send it back and ask for your money back... Also call Ebay and see if they will go after the seller for you... if they mislead you and will not give your money back then they will ban the seller or at least contact them and threaten a ban...most sellers do not want the bad rap in their comments so they will refund your money if you ask...
The camera was purchased years ago and used my the mother of the man who listed it on Ebay. It arrived in pristine condition. Only a couple hours use on the camera. Worked perfectly the first few times I recorded. Have another AG DVC30 that I purchased new and "beat the heck out of it". That camera finally gave out when I did not have it properly attached to a new tripod and it fell and hit the floor. Can use that old camera for parts, if I knew what to do.
Changing the sensor is not something easily explained how to do...I would check for a local camera repair shop and then get them to remove the sensor from your old camera and repair the new one...
Wow... just sounds like you got a bad sensor...it happens...

Hi,
The sensor the takes the light and turns it into electrical bits of info has gone bad....or was bad from the start...
If the camera is very new, then return it and get a replacement of your money back... don't mess with it there is nothing you can do...

I purchased the camera on Ebay...no warranty. Live in Minnesota and have not been able to find a qualified tech to fix the camera.
You could test the camera with a new tape but I don't think the issue is there . You just had bad luck on EBay . Try recontacting the seller or have the camera sent to the manufacturer's representative and ask for specifications . Fanaudi .

This is usually caused by an oxidized, misaligned or defective Audio/Video drum. You can try running a cleaning tape through the camera. If this does not solve the problem the camera will need to be serviced by a qualified service technician.
