Red light flashing

The lifter is a piece of junk. The red light means its time to get another. If the lifter will not lift the handset then it's time to get another - the best thing is do not get one to start!

I usually can hear the phone ring through my headset but now it is not letting me hear the ring tone? Help!

That function is performed by the built-in microphone of the handset lifter. It gets it's signal from the speaker vibrations inside the phone. You want to make sure that the phone rings loud enough. If that microphone has gone bad, your handset lifter came with an accessory package that contains an external microphone that you can connect to the back of the lifter to increase sensitivity.

Cannot hear phone ringing in headset, only on handset.

The HL10 handset lifer is what notifies your headset that you have an incoming call. If you are using the handset lifter and are not receiving the 3 short beeps in your ear piece there are a couple different things that could be going on.
1. The internal microphone could have gone out on the lifter. This microphone is what sends the signal to your headset that you have an incoming call. If the microphone is working you will hear 3 short beeps in your headset.
2. If the volume is too low on your telephone, the handset lifter will not notify the headset of an incoming call, so try turning the volume up on your phone and see if that takes care of the problem.
3. The HL10 handset lifter ships with a ring detector that has a 2.5mm jack on one end and a small round microphone on the other end. This ring detector is intended for phones that do not have the speaker located under the handset. You could try plugging this into the back of the lifter and setting the microphone next to where the lifter is mounted on your phone. This might help pick up the sound of the phones ring tone.

If you are manually lifting your handset out of the cradle and sitting it to the side instead of using a lifter, then you will not receive the 3 short beeps in your earpiece to notify you of an incoming call.

Good luck from Headsets Direct!

Can the DTP- etc be programmed so you do not have to lift handset to answer or dial when using Plantronic headset?

no, sorry you need a plantronics (or other) "lifter" to be installed on the phone. The headset has no clue what line to answer on the phone . The lifter will raise the handset when headset button is pressed. Using the auto answer here is a link

Plantronics CS55 requires lifting handset on phone

Please note that your hand receiver has to be off the hook when using the headset.

This is correct, additionally you can use a handset lifter accessory, such as the HL1 or HL10.

Subscribing Headset to Base:

The headset and the base unit are supplied subscribed to each other. However, if you wish to use a replacement headset with the base unit (or if you lose your connection to the base unit), then you must re-subscribe as follows:

1. Return the headset to the charging base.

2. Press and hold both the + and - buttons on the back of the charging base until the red light on the front of the base starts to flash.

3. Let go of both buttons. The red light should continue to flash.

4. Press the mute switch (black wheel on the top of the headset) straight down until a green light appears on the headset, then let go of the wheel, and the light should remain on the headset.

5. Resubscription is finished when the red light on the base is fully illuminated and the green light on the headset disappears.

6. Remove the headset from the charging base lift telephone handset/press headset button if not using a handset lifter. The headset and base should now be connected.

7. If this procedure does not resolve your issue to try a system reset.

The Headset will no longer activate the handset lifter module

A few things you can do: 1. Make sure that the lifter isn't lifting the phone too high.  To change this, look at the back of the lifter, there is a switch that goes from low to high.  Make sure that's at the lowest setting.
2. Try a reset.  To re-set this unit hold down the minus button on the headset and the call answer button at the same time.  Hold them both until you see the orange light by the call answer button flash a few times.  It should then go off.  If it doesn't go off after 10 seconds release both buttons and push the minus button once more.  The light should now be off.  Put the headset back in the cradle and try again, it should work now.

Won't Stay Connected to Calls

It's probably a problem with the lifter.  Try a re-subscription on the system (refer to user manual).  Also make sure that the lifter is lifting the handset far enough off the base so that there isn't much weight pushing it back down.  There are 3 settings on the lifter (Look at the knob on the back of the lifter).  Low, medium and high.  Try setting it to medium.

HEADSET

A button must be programmed as a "headset" key. When activated, it will lamp red, and put the conversation on the headset jack under the phone (next to the handset jack).

Or you can purchase a headset with an auto lifter for the handset. It picks up the handset enough to answer the call, but transfers the conversation to your headset.
