Another way that you could do that is by using the following formula in B2: =A2&" "&H2. Concatenate works very well too. Both are very versatile ways of getting the job done.

You could use Concatenate command. Means to join together.
B2 = Concatenate A2, ,H2 Note the space in middle, for dentist chico. Otherwise will be dentistchico

  2. Right Click and select Format Cells.
  3. Select Currency in Category then press OK
b6298df.gif Now just type your Numbers i.e. 571 for $571 and -650 for -$650 and sum using the normal way.

That is Select the Cells which you want to SUM and Press Alt+=

This will bring the total just below the selected cells.

Definition of special product in algebra types and example of special product in algebra

Product means the result you get after multiplying.
In Algebra xy means x multiplied by y
Likewise when you see (a+b)(a-b) it means (a+b) multiplied by (a-b), which we will be using a lot here!
Special Binomial Products So when you multiply binomials you get ... Binomial Products
And we are going to look at three special cases of multiplying binomials ... so they are Special Binomial Products.
1. Multiplying a Binomial by Itself What happens when you square a binomial (in other words, multiply it by itself) .. ?

(a+b)2 = (a+b)(a+b) = ... ?

The result:

(a+b)2 = a2 + 2ab + b2
You can easily see why it works, in this diagram:

x-y-2-diagram.gif
2. Subtract Times Subtract And what happens if you square a binomial with a minus inside?

(a-b)2 = (a-b)(a-b) = ... ?

The result:

(a-b)2 = a2 - 2ab + b2
3. Add Times Subtract And then there is one more special case... what if you multiply (a+b) by (a-b) ?

(a+b)(a-b) = ... ?

The result:

(a+b)(a-b) = a2 - b2
That was interesting! It ended up very simple.
And it is called the "difference of two squares" (the two squares are a2 and b2).
This illustration may help you see why it works:
apb-amb-why.gif a2 - b2 is equal to (a+b)(a-b) Note: it does not matter if (a-b) comes first:

(a-b)(a+b) = a2 - b2
The Three Cases Here are the three results we just got:
(a+b)2 = a2 + 2ab + b2 } (the "perfect square trinomials") (a-b)2 = a2 - 2ab + b2 (a+b)(a-b) = a2 - b2 (the "difference of squares") Remember those patterns, they will save you time and help you solve many algebra puzzles.
Using Them So far we have just used "a" and "b", but they could be anything.
Example: (y+1)2
We can use the (a+b)2 case where "a" is y, and "b" is 1:

(y+1)2 = (y)2 + 2(y)(1) + (1)2 = y2 + 2y + 1

Example: (3x-4)2
We can use the (a-b)2 case where "a" is 3x, and "b" is 4:

(3x-4)2 = (3x)2 - 2(3x)(4) + (4)2 = 9x2 - 24x + 16

Example: (4y+2)(4y-2)
We know that the result will be the difference of two squares, because:

(a+b)(a-b) = a2 - b2
so:

(4y+2)(4y-2) = (4y)2 - (2)2 = 16y2 - 4
Sometimes you can recognize the pattern of the answer:
Example: can you work out which binomials to multiply to get 4x2 - 9
Hmmm... is that the difference of two squares?
Yes! 4x2 is (2x)2, and 9 is (3)2, so we have:

4x2 - 9 = (2x)2 - (3)2
And that can be produced by the difference of squares formula:

(a+b)(a-b) = a2 - b2
Like this ("a" is 2x, and "b" is 3):

(2x+3)(2x-3) = (2x)2 - (3)2 = 4x2 - 9
So the answer is that you can multiply (2x+3) and (2x-3) to get 4x2 - 9

How to number a column. I can't remember the short formula, something like a1+1= which would make the number two pop up in the cell underneath.

You can number rows in a column by entering a number in cell A1 (usually the number 1 but youcan start with any number) and the formula (=A1+1) in the next row. The result there will be 2. Copy that formula down the rows you want to number and they will be numbered 3, 4, 5, etc. Each row adds 1 to the previous row so if you do anything that disrupts the sequence (like inserting a row between two others) you will have to copy the formulas down again to restore the sequence. You can also use the Edit-Fill-... menu command to put a series of numbers into rows. Put the starting number in th efirst row. Highlight it and the rows that you want to number and select Edit-Fill-Series... Those numbers will not change if you insert columns or move the formulas.
Or you can use the formula =ROW(A1) in any cell to return the number of that row. (The result of =ROW(A1) is the number 1 in cell A1, the result of =ROW(A2) is the number 2 in cell B2, etc. In this case inserting rows will not affect the numbering (i.e. row A5 will always be numbered 5 even if the data in it is moved down.)

Excel formula

You can do that using the formula CONCATENATE, solving your report.
in C2 you could write: =CONCATENATE(A2,B2)
in C3 you could write: =CONCATENATE(A3,B3)
in C4 you could write: =CONCATENATE(A4,B4)
in C5 you could write: =CONCATENATE(A5,B5)

BASIC EXCEL FORMULA

Are you looking to solve any particular problem?--- because there are a huge number of possible formulas in Excel.

However, in my opinion, the most commonly needed ones are addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, and summing.

Suppose you have the following numbers typed into your Excel spreadsheet:

columns: A B C D
rows
1 20 3
2 10 4
3 15 2
4 1 2 3

Then suppose you type in the following formulas (in the D column):

columns: A B C D
rows
1 20 3 =A1+B1
2 10 4 =A2-B2
3 15 2 =A3*B2
4 1 2 3 =sum(A4:C4)

Then the following answers will appear in the D column:

columns: A B C D
rows
1 20 3 23
2 10 4 6
3 15 2 30
4 1 2 3 6

About formula

One way of finding (and removing) duplicate entries is to sort the column and put a simple formulate in a temporary column next to that column; for example - if column A has duplicates, insert a column (B) and starting in B2 put if(A2=A1,"DUP",""). Select B2 and scroll down to the bottom of your spreadsheet. Press <ctrl>-D to extend the formula in B2. Wherever there is a duplicate you'll see "DUP" in column B. If you want to remove the duplicates copy column B and Edit / Paste Special... with "values" selected (to wipe out the formula). You can then sort the spreadsheet on column B and remove rows with DUP in column B.

If you can't delete the duplicate rows and the order is important first include a column that captures the order - same trick except put row() in that column, copy / paste special the values and then you can re-sort after doing the above to have both the DUPs marked and the original order.

Hope that helps.

Copying data from one sheet to another if two fileds match

Nope, sorry, although I am truly an expert at Excel formulas, I do not understand what you are trying to end up with in the final cell. We can compare a specified field with two spreadsheets - use named ranges and index/match lookup formulas. But then where you really lose me is in reading "a generic field" to find a match, and then placing what "data from another field" into what "other sheet" - ? See the confusion?

Best way to compare 2 given parameters would be to use a nested if formula, with index/match combo. Here is a simple Excel example of how such a formula could be structured:

Sample Data (columnar arangement):
A1: Part B1: Code C1: Price D1: Find Part E1: Find Code
A2: x B2: 11 C2: 5.00 D2: y E2: 12
A3: x B3: 12 C3: 6.00 D3: y E3: 11
A4: y B4: 11 C4: 7.00 D4: x E4: 12
A5: y B5: 12 C5: 8.00 D5: x E5: 11

To retrieve the price for part y with code 12 and return the value to cell F2, type the following formula in cell F2:
=INDEX($C$2:$C$5,MATCH(D2,IF($B$2:$B$5=E2,$A$2:$A$5),0))

Press CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER to enter the formula as an array formula. The formula returns the value 8.00.

To take this one step further, with range names, this example will find one value at a specified location which matches a specific row header value and column header value. Let's say the range is home values (Range=HomeVal), Column A of HomeVal contains street addresses,"row headers" (Range=StAddress), and Row 1 contains dates of the various values that are in the body of the table, "column headers" (Range=Dates). To return the specific value from the range HomeVal to another sheet, where A1=address specified and A2=date specified:
=INDEX(HomeVal,(MATCH($A$1,StAddress,0)),(MATCH($A$2,Dates,0)))

Then make sure to press CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER to enter the formula as an array formula - if you only hit enter, these types of formulas will not work properly.

Help with simple excel calculations

Hello.

For cell B1 you can use this (without the quotes) "=A1"

Then for cell A2 and down you don't need a formula, but for B2 you can use this formula. "=(B1+A2)" Then click on that cell and drag the mouse down for as many cells as you want this formula to include and press Control and F keys to fill the formula down the column.

For your second formula, you would type 100 into D1 and in D2 you would use the formula "=D1-E1" (again, no quotes).

Feel free to let me know if you need any more clarification or if I missed something!
