To find and remove the filer. First, turn the unit OFF & unplug it. Then remove the water bucket. The filter frame & handle will be located at the top of the bucket holder just behind the front louvers. If you have never removed and cleaned the filter, it may have a piece of plastic tape on it, which was used for shipping. Remove the tape & discard it. Pull the filter frame's tab handle straight down and remove the filter. It can either be vacuumed or if it's really dirty, washed in warm water and a mild dish washing liquid. Rinse thoroughly and shake off any access water. Allow it to dry completely, before reinstalling it. Never operate the unit without the filter in place. Doing so could cause damage to the unit.

Clean the filter at least once every two weeks.

Hope this helped you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

LHD659EBL The fan runs as normal, compressor runs normal, but coil ices up.

The icing is generally caused but 4 basic things:

1. The air intake filter is very dirty or clogged and needs to be removed and cleaned.

2. There is not enough clear air space surrounding the unit. You need to maintain 12" to 18" around
the entire unit.

3. The cooling coils are dirty and need to be cleaned. This can be accomplished using a sponge
dipped in warm water mixed with a mild dish washing liquid, rinsed, wiped dry and the applying
a light coating of WD40.

4. The dehumidifier is being used in a basement, where the air temperature at floor level is colder
than at shoulder level. Dehumidifiers struggle to work at temps below 65 degrees F. Raising the
unit up off the floor, onto a sturdy table or counter top will generally solve the problem. It must be
sturdy enough to handle the weight of the unit, plus a full tank of water.

A less common problem is a small leak in the cooling coils. Which allows the refrigerant gas to escape and frost the coils.

Hope this helps you to further troubleshoot & solve the problem. Thanks for choosing FixYa.

The dehudifier won't come on in and in the digital display the message CH 01 comes up. Any idea what the problem is?

CH 01 usually indicates that the filter is dirty and needs to be removed and cleaned. Turn the unit OFF and unplug it, before removing the filter. Never operate the unit without the filter in place.

I have cleaned the filter that is located in the front; however it still won't turn on, what could be wrong? thank you

If you're not getting any indicator lights, check the receptacle that it's plugged into. Is their power to it? If not, the circuit breaker in your home's circuit breaker panel may have been tripped. Or the outlet itself may be faulty (loose wire, poor connection, etc). If the indicator lights are working, but the compressor is not, turn the Master ON/OFF switch on the unit to OFF and wait 10 minutes before plugging it back in. This will give the electronics time to reset themselves.

Hopefully, the above will solve you problem.

From Day 1 this dehumidifier, after running for a couple of minutes it gives off a very loud buzzing sound - not at all the typical motor sound. What is this and how do I fix it? Is it...

It is not dangerous, but it also is not working...the sound is the compressor trying to start and not getting started... so the machine is basically toast... would cost more to fix then it is worth...

LG dehumidifier developing ice

First you would need to clean the filter. LG recommends cleaning the filter every 2 weeks on their dehumidifiers. The second thing you need to do is clean the coils periodically. On this dehumidifier it should include a brush for cleaning the coils. It is located on the top of the bucket. To access the coils the following needs to be done:

1.) Unplug the unit from power
2.) Remove the bucket and also the air filter
3.) Remove the front pannel by removing the 2 lower screws and depressing the tabs.
4.) Once the panel is removed you will see the coils. You need to clean them with the brush. Go in an up and down motion to remove the dirt and dust.

Now use the reverse steps to put it back together. If your dehumidifier runs often I recommend you clean the coils about every 3 to 4 months. This is a common problem on alot of dehumidifiers and people think their dehumidifier is broken. Most of the time the coils are just dirty which causes the water to stay between them and freeze. Keep me posted. Also if you found this response helpful, please rate this solution when you get a chance. Thanks - Tech101
