Try this if repairing yourself...find power supply, small board with no cover over it...check voltages on output pins/plug/connectors (white plugs) three in a row...
1 Plug has 24Volt supply..1 has 12Volt supply and 1 has 5Volt supply when read to ground (screw that holds board in) if you have these voltages it's a safe bet it's the main control board...I just replaced mine and it fixed a problem like yours.

I fixed my TV Vizio GV47L by replacing both BACKLIGHT INVERTERS!! It~s working now greatly.... I live in Brazil and i bought this TV from the U.S while i used to live there, but here in Brazil i found problems to get the right part due to the lack of VIZIO representatives, ever since Vizio does not have Brazil as its market strategy so far! so i had to purchase the part on ebay and have it arranged to be shipped to me, i was lucky because i paid for both BACKLIGHT INVERTERS for U$ 30 dollars and plus U$ 37 dollars to have it delivered! My advice... Do it yourself, always if you think you are capable to!! i sent to some tech peoples and they did not to manage the problems and one of them charged me for something that they didnt even do ( he lied to me ) i found out and got my money back.. with the money back i got from the corrupted TECH and bought the spare parts and fixed it myself!! well done, to Cindy wells too, because through his advices i could manage to figure out my TVs issue!!! so thank you!
