  • Guy Grimmett Sep 21, 2011

Hi. First, I lost control of my inbox. It was empty. Then I lost the direction to my inbox from the screen. So now I can't email anyone, and I can't read incoming messages. Can you give me back access to my inbox, and open my inbox again, please? Regards, Guy Grimmett.

How do I remove junk mail from my iPad Air? I have tried everything and nothing happens?

Top left of your Mail screen there is a left arrow. Click and it should show your mailboxes. Below are a greyrsion of the mailboxes. Click the down arrow on the mailbox you have junk mail in. It will open to show all your mailboxes for that account, inbox, sent, drafts and junk. Open junk and click edit. Each junk mail item will show a circle to the left. Click the circle and it is ticked. Click delete. Also you can delete the lot by clicking delete all, bottom right. Good luck.

My account has frozen on the screen and will not return to the inbox. I can't even cancel the note I was trying to write. I had to use another device and open an account to return to the inbox.

Hi,
I would try this :
reset the memory circuits on your iPad.
To do this : press and hold down both the Home button and the Sleep button (top right corner) until the Apple logo appears. This may take at least 10 seconds, so don't stop pressing the 2 buttons.
the iPad will re-initialize itself, but you won't loose any data or Apps. It just force-closes apps that may be frozen.

Setting up email on tablet

  1. Start the Email app. Look for it in the Apps drawer.
If you've run the Email app before, you see the Email inbox and you're done.
If you haven't yet run the Email app, the first screen you see is Account Setup.
  2. Type the e-mail address you use for the account.
  3. Type the password for that account.
  4. Touch the Next button.
If you're lucky, everything is connected and you can move on to Step 5. Otherwise, you have to specify the details as provided by your ISP, including the incoming and outgoing server information, often known by the bewildering acronyms POP3 and SMTP. Plod through the steps on the screen, although the tablet really just wants to know the incoming and outgoing server names.
Your ISP most likely has a support web page for setting up e-mail accounts. That page may list specific account setup information for an Android device. Use it.
  5. Set the account options on the aptly named Account Options screen.
You might want to reset the Inbox Checking Frequency option to something other than 15 minutes.
If the account will be your main e-mail account, place a check mark next to the Send Email from This Account By Default option.
  6. Touch the Next button.
  7. Give the account a name and check your own name.
The account is given the name of the mail server, which may not ring a bell when you receive your e-mail.
The Your Name field lists your name as it's applied to outgoing messages. So if your name is really, say, Cornelius the Magnificent and not wally78, you can make that change now.
  8. Touch the Next or Done button.
    You're done.

Old emails

Go to Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars. Under the Mail window - go to Show> and select the number of recent emails that you want the iPad to load in your email accounts.

While you are in the mail settings - tap on the email account, tap on the account in the next window, tap on Advanced in the next window and tap Delete - and select the amount of time that you want the emails to stay on the iPad.

In some mail accounts there will also be an option for Delete from Server - tap that and set it to never if you want to control when to delete your old emails.

Go back to your email inbox in the mail app and swipe down to the bottom of the window - there may be an option to "load more messages from the server" in blue letters. Tap that and you will download as many odl emails as you set up for in the Show recent messages setting. At the top of the inbox is a search field - type in keywords in that search field to find old emails.

You can also search for emails in the spotlight search. Go to the home screen and tap the home button and the search feature pops up. Type keywords in the search field at the top to find old emails there as well. When you tap on that email in the search, the mail app will open and you can read the email.

I have 1400 emails on my ipad I need to delete quickly.

In mail, when you are in a specific mailbox, on the top right side of the left hand column (in portrait view) next to "inbox" press "edit". Then in the bottom left corner there is a "mark all" option. You can do that and the unselect what you want to keep.

The other option, if you don't like those red numbers over the mail app is to follow these directions:
settings > notifications center > mail > select the desired mail account if you have more than one and then turn off "badge app icon"
this works for any app that has those (sometimes annoying) red icons. If you don't want that large number of unread emails on your mail app, use this method. If you want to delete them, use the previous suggestion.

Hope this helps!

How do I stop my delete email from comming back into my mail

Are you talking about 'Spam' e-mails here? If so tick the box next to the emails you dont want and instead of chosing delete select 'mark as spam' this means they wont come to your inbox they will automatically be directed to a spam folder.

When switced on android sits in middle of screen

The green android guy is in the middle and it doesn't change after even the longest of times? Well then this might be a factory defect, because this means the Android Stock OS isn't installed properly.
The only way to fix it would be to void the warranty, and that's the last thing we want.
