Your radio does not need to be tweaked. It is your antenna system that has failed. that means from the coax that screws onto your radio to the antenna outside. And could even be your antenna.Get a meter and set it for continuity. Remove both coax connectors. The one from your radio and the one from the antenna. Now at either end you choose touch the red meter wire to the center of the coax and the black meter wire to the outside of the coax. The meter should not move or make noise whichever kind you have. If it does you have a shorted coax and needs to be repaired or replaced. if it checks out ok the next test is to put the red lead of the meter on the center of the coax plug at one end of the coax and the black lead to the other plug at the center. You should get a reading or a tone depending on the style of meter you have. If you dont the coax is broken somewhere and needs fixed or replaced. Next test: check the outside of the coax by putting the red lead at one end of the coax on the outside of the plug and the other meter lead at the other end on the outside of the plug. Again you should see something. If you dont most likely one of your connectors needs fixed or replace the coax cable. Most causes are at the plugs. You need the coax braid to make contact with the outer portion of the plugs while the center wire of the coax goes to the center of the plugs. If you plan to fix yourself, do these checks as you go to see if you are getting it done right. If all checks out good and all the test I have said are good and works as stated then your antenna is at fault. Please before you do anything, always remove the coax plugs from your radio and antenna and re tighten each one back on. Now on the CB where the plug fits in, it is possible that the coax has been loose for sometime;which will cause the center hole where the coax fits into to become larger and therefore not make contact with the center of the coax. So Look at that to make sure that is ok as well. Hope you find this informative and fix the problem.
