Hi,

Initially, pls try to verify if the blower fan is working. Its function is to draw cold air from the freezer side and vent it to the fridge side. Additionally, pls check if the air pathway is block or obstructed. Pls post back results of checks.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

    Hi again and appreciate the quick update.

    I understand fans are working and no obstructions, sorry and pls bear with me is the airflow strong?

  • Anonymous Sep 17, 2008

    A common failure with this series/models is the Air diffuser assembly, often, this diffusers tend to be stuck in the closed position (or partially closed) prevent sufficient cold air from the freezer to blow to the refrigerator area.

    Additional insights may be sourced from here.

    Again appreciate the update.

    This is a completely different problem. Initially a couple of possibilities:

        faulty thermostat;

        faulty compressor;

        refrigerant leak;

        stuck in defrost mode.
    Things to check:

        does the motor at least run?

        does the interior light works?
    Initially, pls try:

        unplug from the mains for at least an hour. This of course would mean that food stuff and other perishable items should be temporarily moved to another cold storage/fridge.

    If the motor runs, the compressor should be pumping the refrigerant around the system. If even the freezer is not cooling, possibly:
    refrigerant leak;
    clogged tubes (condenser/evaporator);
    compressor problem.
    Unfortunately you would need an onsite qualified professional to determine above stated possible problem.

Kitchen Aid Fridge problem

ok first the freezer does all the cooling for the whole unit and in order for it to cool properly the freezer needs to be a certain temp it should be around -10 -6 if its not reaching that temp it will still freeze and apper to be working right also check to hear if the freezer fan is running as it pulls air from the fridge and cools it then blowes it back look in the freezer on the back wall toward the bottom see if frost is building also in the refridgerator section on the left hand side of the cabnit is a return vent make sure its not blocked and see what the thermostat in the freezer is and let me know we need to know things like this to help narrow the promblems and people dont reply to the questions so we cant answer appliance repair is a skill

Stinky Ice

You could try using ice aid, http://www.partadvantage.com/store/showpart/10127281. However there is nothing on a fridge that causes an odor only things that are put into the fridge i.e. food, water quality.
