How can I unlock a disabled ipod touch?

Step 1:
The iPod Touch is a type of iPod that features a touch screen and can function as both a portable media player and as a pocket computer. It is possible to password protect your iPod Touch so that you will have to enter a password every time you want to unlock the iPod Touch screen. If you repeatedly enter the incorrect passcode, your iPod Touch will become disabled. To unlock a disabled iPod Touch, you need to sync your iPod Touch device with iTunes on your computer.

Attach the iPod Touch data cable to the bottom of your iPod Touch device and attach the other end of the data cable to an available USB port on your computer. Open iTunes on your computer and then select your iPod Touch device from the list of available devices on the left side of the iTouch window. Click the "Restore" button. If you have previously backed up your iPod Touch, you can choose to restore the device to the last back up or any saved backup. If you have never backed up your iPod Touch, this process will restore your iPod Touch's factory settings. Wait while iTunes syncs with your iPod Touch and restores the device. iTunes will prompt you when this process is complete.

How to restore your ipod through itunes if its disabled and you dont remember your four digit passcode

You can reset it using iTunes. Open iTunes, plug the iPod in using USB, then turn of the iPod, once it's off hold down the home and lock buttons for 10 seconds, then release the lock button while continuing to hold the home button. After a few seconds iTunes should detect the iPod. Then you should be able to restore the iPod back to factory defaults. Even if you've forgotten the passcode.

Ok, So my friend wanted to trade iPods, it was not stolen, and it is disabled, and its not connected to any wifi thingy, so when i got to plug it into itunes it says, THIS IPOD IS NOT RECOGNIZABLE, IT IS...

You can try putting it into DFU mode and restoring the firmware
here's how you put the ipod into DFU mode - connect your ipod touch to your computer - turn off your ipod touch - press and hold the Home button and sleep/wake button at the same time - After about 10 seconds release the sleep/wake button but continue holding the Home button until the iTunes pops up a message telling you that it has detected an ipod in recovery mode - now you will be able to restore it..

How can i disable my ipod touch?

Do I read your question correctly: you want to disable your iPod?
Or do you want to recover it from being disabled?
For the first one, to disable your iPod:
  1. Turn ON the passcode-lock by going to Settings> General> Passcode Lock> ... and then, tap Turn Passcode On.
  2. Now, to disable it, put your iPod to sleep by pressing the POWER button once. Then wak it up. You will be asked for the passcode before you can use it.
  3. Enter an incorrect passcode several times to disable the device.
Now, if what you want is to recover your device from being disabled, all you need to do is read this tip:

Ipod touch disabled

If you repeatedly enter the wrong passcode, iPhone or iPod touch will be disabled for longer intervals, before you can try again. After too many unsuccessful attempts, you won't be able to try again until you connect to the computer you normally sync with. Note that starting with iPhone 2.1 software, there is a setting to cause the device to erase itself after 10 consecutive incorrect password attempts. This setting is off by default. It can be turned on by tapping Settings > General > Passcode Lock after you enter a correct passcode.
If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device on the computer that was used to originally sync the iPhone or iPod touch so that you can reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced to the iPhone or iPod touch, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode but your data will not be present.

Ipod is disabled

From what I gather in your post, it seems that your touch has had too many wrong attempts at the passcode, so now it won't even give you the number pad to try again.

It is now necessary to restore the touch on the computer that was used to originally sync it, so you can reset your passcode and resync the data.

If you use a different computer, you will be able to unlock and remove passcode, but you will lose your data.

The link below will explain what I said a little better, and at the end of the article there is another link on how to actually update and restore your touch.
