YOU NEED TO CHECK THAT YOUR HEATER ELEMENT AND SENSORS ARE FUNCTIONING WELL AS THAT WILL CAUSE THE ICE BUILD UP AND THE UNIT NOT TO WORK PROPERLY. GOODLUCK.MOHAMED

The coils in the freezer compartment keep freezing over causing the refridgerator temp to rise

Most times the defrost heater and defrost thermostat need replaced. manually defrosting, removing rear panel in freezer, unplugging power from wall and using a hair dryer to remove the ice allows you to visually see th defrost heater burned out. I will get some photos and links and return soon, Thanks Sea Breeze

GE Profile refrigerator temperature problem

refrigerators have 2 coils. the evaporator coil and the condensing coil. one is on the bottom of the fridg and one is on the back or inside behind a false panel. these coils must be kept clean or if the condensing coil cannot reject the heat absorbed by the evaporator, the box temp will stay high and if the evap coil cant absorb heat the box temp stays low running the risk of freezing

GE regrigerator not cooling or freezing

first defrost it by turning it off for 1\2 to 1 full day,put towels on the floor to catch the water, when a refridgerator gets frosted up it cant circulate the cold air,and if its one with the freezer on top then the cold air cant blow down into the refridgerator, check inside the refridgerator at the top where the thermostat cover is there will be a vent hole,it could have ice built up so much that its totally blocking the air flow. This usually happens when hot food is put in the refridgerator and causes steam,or the refridgerator runs too much caused by bad door seals,or the cooling fins on the back or bottom underneath plugged with dust and the freon gets too hot causing condensation inside the freezer which causes it to frost up,a plugged drain hole will back up water and freeze, the fan in the freezer may have stopped working, which is about a $60.00 part, and finally a bad defrost element (about a $40.00 part)which is a glass tube inside the freezer with a coiled up wire inside it that heats up at certain times to defrost any ice build up,(which is the last thing to check)

Sounds like a faulty thermostat. Try replacing it with a known good one and retest.

Freezer is frozen and Refridgerator not cooling

It sounds like you have aproblem with the defrost cycle. Three parts make up defrost system in most refrigerators. The heating element, bimetal and defrost timer, these components need to be checked to determin which is bad. The heating element and bi metal are on the coil behind the freezer back wall, if you have someone who can use a volt ohm meter, with the food removed and refrigerator unplugged ck for resistance on the element if you get a measurment its good, the bimetal will give you a resistance measurment as long as its covered in ice. if these two check ok you may have a bad defrost timer. Id check the bimetal first, hope this helps.
