Any idea why it takes a few turns of the key to start my truck? There is 59000 miles on it and the last 2 mornings the truck did not want to turn over. it eventually did, and would start fine in the work parking lot on my way home after sitting for 10 hours. This same issue happened the last 2 weekends, but we were at a football game tailgating with the liftgate open and I assumed that was the reason for the drain. The truck is parked outdoors and it has been getting cooler out, but its difficult to believe that this is the reason for the problem.

I should clarify, when I say a few turns of the key, the truck sounds like it is trying to turn over. It is similar to how a car will eventually start in sub zero weather. You turn the key, the lights turn on and the truck is trying to start but it just takes some time. Not how you want to start your day, that little panic in the chest. I will start with a new battery and see how it goes from there.

You have to be specific about the engine turning over

That is done by the starter circuit

Some people call that cranking

Some people also say it won't crank, when they mean
it does crank, but won't start

Not turn over the engine -----

Old & Weak Battery
Dirty Battery Cables
Worn out Starter Solenoid -- you can buy & replace
without getting the entire starter
A bad Starter
