Savin SC548 Hello...HELP! I received the SC 548 error...the fuser one...opened the front and the side, yet we didn't have a blue knob...what else should I look for? Any advise you can offer would be so appreciated... thank you Liz

The Ricoh error code 548 / SC548 is a fusing unit error code. If you are getting this error: Check the fuser unit to see if it is set properly. There are some connections on the fuser unit not making good contact.

SC548: Fusing unit installation error -

The machine cannot detect the fusing unit when the front cover and right cover are closed.

Possible causes:
Fusing unit is not installed
Poor fusing unit connection

Check the 2 sensors on the left hand side of the copier (as you look at where the fuser is located). These get knocked & moved out of position. SC 548 usually happens when a paper jam occurs and user does not properly fit the fuser back in place

The fuser may also not be fiitted properly due to some foreign object in between fusing belt and the sensor

From the panel, enter SP 5810 (SC code reset), select "Execute", select "close", exit SP mode then turn main power switch off, wait 30 seconds, the turn it back on.

To enter SP mode, press the yellow C button press 1 0 7 on numeric keypad and then hold down the orange C button. from the menu select copier SP then type in 5801 and press # select execute then power off and back on. Your machine should now be working.

sc 548 relates to the fuser unit...
check the thermostat and thermister..more than likely you will need to change them

fuser thermistor open needs a engineer to repair

The SC 548 error usually occcurs in the fuser section when it ahas been reset incorrectly the drive and gears are not locking properly or the sensor has not registered the fuser correctly I would look in these areas check the seating of the fuser you can reset this in the modes with 5-810 sc reset then turn off.

you have to:
press the arrows "up" and "down" at the same time for five seconds
press the OK button
a new menu appears
select option 2: ENGINE
with the arrows navigate and select option number: 5 (MODE)
now press the right arrow until you see "810. SC RESET".
press ok
and later press "execute" (you will see it in the screen of the printer)
press "ESC" until you exit all menus
power off the printer for 30 seconds
and.... VOILá........
