Mower starts won't keep running

First off it would go chogchog, but kept running now it starts but after a few minutes it dies very hot. I've cleaned off the the air filter (very dirty) but it did it again any ideas?

my mower was running fine, but then it just died and would not restart. I cleaned the filter, changed the gas, and drained the little bowl on the bottom. I found that there was water in the bowl so I took the gas tank off cleaned it dried it and let it sit for a day. I then put it all back together but it wont stay running, and sometimes I have to use starter fluid

Check the bowl under the primer button see if there is dirt in there watch how it comes apart,then send me email cant get mine back together,mine was dirty should help.

Your ignition coil is failing when it gets hot.make sure the cooling fins on the flywheel are not plugged up.you will probably have to replace the coil.

what color is the spark at your sparkplug? If it's red, it's weak,if it's blue it's hot, clean the magneto contacts with sandpaper and wd40 and clean the coil too, let me know how you did!

Engine starts right up after pushing primer bulb,

There is dirt in the nozzel inside the carb,take it apart and clean it with torch tip cleaners. Remember to replace all the gaskets you disturb.

Remove gas cap. If mower now runs without stalling, your problem is the vent in the gas cap is blocked. Replace the cap. Common problem!

Can't keep mower running without consistently pushing the primer.

It sounds like there is water in the gas. The only way to remedy this is to take the carb off of the gas tank and replace the diaphragm, there is a small reservoir between the tank and carb...clean with WD-40 to remove water

Champion Vantage 35 - mower will not keep running

More than likely the jet in the carb is somewhat clogged. Did this just happen after sitting for the winter? If so, start the mower and when it starts to die pump the primer to keep it running. Sometimes it will clean itself in a few minutes. If not, carb cleaner or take the carb bowl off and clean the jet.
