Hold top and home button for 10 seconds
If you've reset it and it's still this "black" screen, then something's wrong. If you can't get it serviced where you live then you're going to have to mail it to someone who can get it serviced or ask Apple where you can send it to for service. You're going to need proof of purchase to get it serviced under warranty, though.

Was on my ipad closed cover and went to do something now ipad is black and can not turn on

One suggestion online is to press the sequence of buttons shown in the article below:

https://mashable.com/2015/11/20/apple-ipad-pro-screen-black/#coWqk0nqv8qB

Quoting:

"Learn what to do if your iPad Pro doesn't respond when you press buttons or tap on the screen, and the screen is black," Apple's message reads. "To get back to using your iPad Pro, force restart it by pressing and holding both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least ten seconds, until you see the Apple logo."

Black screen cant get menu

Hi Tracy..., last month my ipad got black screen also, all i have to do is.. I open it
slowly and carefully pull-up the touch screen, then i remove the LCD and at the back of LCD you can see the black plastic cover, carefully remove it,then when finish removing it, at left side there is flix ...that is the connection of backlights...
if you see that is broken that causes you the ipad turn black screen, all you need is to get a soldering iron and a lead then fix that 9 connections of flix one by one ..and after that, all parts that you remove return it carefully and restart your ipad..and you have your ipad now back to normal

How to replace I pad 2 broken screen

Is the screen broken or is it just the digitiser? There are many excellent videos available which take you through the process of replacing all parts of your iPad.

However, it is not something that can be fixed easily and you need to exercise great patience in dismantling your broken iPad and replacing the damaged parts.

Make sure you have plenty of space in which to work and place all the parts of the iPad around your working area so they are easy to reach.

Good Luck.

Half the screen on my ipad is black with stripes , how do I fix it

This would be a hardware problem in LCD. You may be required to change it or the LCD flex cable may be causing it. That requires an expert technical to check or install it. Other than that you are fully responsible opening your iPad . Which I do not recommend because you may damage other parts. Check YouTube for the error to see if it solves it

IPad shows blank black screen & won't turn off ~ how do I fix?

Try reseting the iPad by holding the home and power buttons simultaneously until the iPad completely shuts down and the Apple logo appears.

Once the Apple logo appears you can release the buttons. If this does not work, you may need to connect your iPad to your computer and do a factory restore using iTunes.
