Where is lamp door located? I've read on here that my issue (blinking red lights) may be fixed via the lamp door but I dont know where it is...

replace teh lamp its might have exploded if its okey check the power supply board but most likely the lamp needs replacement

Read all the recalls and the class action lawsuit over this issue in these sets that was settled and ended last year.

The safety switch is there only to prevent the lamp from being able to turn on if door is open or removed, thats it.

You have really solved or answered your own question. 3 blinks is the door is not closed or is warped from all the heat, the safety switch in your case seems MIA, going to have to find it first, it is usually a blue lever type and I suspect the plastic tab is likely missing from the door.

I would order the door and find the safety switch, it did not just walk away.

You might also be interested to know a lot of these got so hot they fused the door to the cabinet or melted the enclosure around the lamp, had two where in order to get door off had to use a Dremel cutting tool, Sony paid for all this even though set was out of warranty.

Find the switch and if snapped off or melted it and the door will both have to be replaced.

The only reason to bypass the switch is a simple one, TO KNOW IF THE SET OPERATES WITH IT DONE---no long term use, just to know the issue will be fixed.

Yes, there were and are known issues--"lamp door not properly closed" means that but something else.

What happens is door is warped from heat from lamp----with door off set will not function due to the safety switch----want to know if switch/door are the real problem?

Engage switch with something not metal and try to turn set on--if it and lamp come on do not look at lamp directly----do not operate with level bypassed and door removed as heat can warp the outer plate if no door.

If it comes on door is the problem---look at it edgewise---if warped a little the tab on back of door that engages the lever does not do its job.

If does not come on with lever engaged something else is wrong.

There was a recall that has ended regarding this---some were so bad they melted the lamp housing and even fused the front door of the lamp to the plastic around it.

Blue led light lit solid and yellow led light flashes is an initial attempt of the set to re-light the lamp.Red led flashes and yellow led light solid means that the lamp won't light up that's why it only has sound without the picture.
Since you've replaced the lamp twice and still the symptoms persist, I suspected that the fault came from the ballast board and not on the lamp itself. If the ballast board gone to malfunction, there's no high voltage will produce to light up the lamp and will sensed by the processor and trigger the error code (Flashes/solid led light with color code).

To verify whether the ballast board is faulty or not, check if the lamp will lit by looking through the lamp door louvers at the rear of the cabinet upon turning on the set.

Sorry for the late reply, I'm offline upon purchasing my service.
You have said that you can hear a low buzzing sound before the unit gone to subsequent shutdown and the lamp blinks green(meaning that the unit try to turn on the lamp for consecutive attempts but not generally mean that the lamp itself is faulty.) and the temp led light come on.

As a matter of fact all the information you have mentioned linked to the symptoms you've encountered right now. A low buzzing sound might be caused by faulty FAN inside the unit that trigger the error code (blinking of the standby/temp led light) and turns off the unit automatically due to thermal protection circuit.
However, the technician might be true also that the buzzing sound came from the faulty color wheel. To confirm it, you have to verify where the buzzing sound came from. Color wheel is in front of the lamp assembly. Faulty color wheel can produce the same symptoms you've encountered right now but most of the time, it shows 3 blinking led light at the front panel (Timer, Lamp, standby/Temp).

I would advice you to open the back cover of your unit, fixed the lamp door safety switch with the tape to make it in closed position( if it is on open position the unit will not power up), and then turn on the unit and observe the fans if will spin or not, and check also where the buzzing sound came from before the unit gone to shutdown.
I've suspected that the fault came from the fan based on the led light flashes. Please let me know what you will discover after following the steps above to verify where the exact fault came from. Also, let me know the exact status of the led light at the front panel, (Timer, Lamp, standby/Temp ), which of them lit solid/blinking, it will help us to narrow the caused of the symptoms.

The lamp is most likely needing replacement. Replaceing the lamp is a very easy proceedure on that model.I am pasting a pic where the lamp cover is located on rear cover. Remove the screw and the lamp is behind the lamp door.

OK. Great! 3 times is simple. The lamp door is not properly closed or the lamp is not fully engaged into the socket. Most likely it is a door issue, though.

same problem as others 3 blinking green lights then orangey colors then 3 red blinking lights afterwards shuts down fan runs for about 2 mins solution check your door cover for warpage or deformed just a bit under set screw there is a push in switch try and push it in with q tip while holding turn on tv if it works then that door is deformed and defective change it
