Looks like $56 bucks today

Note: Use the manufacturers P number to make sure you get the correct grates. They are called grates not grills.

I Have A Jenn-Aie Model 720-0164 Natural Gas Grill. When I Grill, The Control Knobs Get So Hot Theyh Will Burn You. What Could Csuse This?

Can this grill be also used on propane? If so you might be running it too hot on natural gas, check to see if the control knobs have two different set of markings.

Should I buy a two burner unit if available? Or a new cooktop?

Yes you can as long as there ae two heat controls for the grill side of the stove/cooktop. That allows one burner control for each of the burners. You should be able to order directly from GE but I would also check out repairclinic.com since they normally sell OEM GE parts cheaper than you can buy them from GE. At least check out the price at both sources beforw purchasing.

After using the grill cartridge for the first time, and then replacing it with the double burner cartridge again, now the fan goes on every time we turn those burners on. This is a grill only feature. ...

There has got to be an interlock that is actuated by inserting the grill into the cooktop. That interlock switch or sensor is probably stuck closed and still is sending the signal to the stove that the grill is being operated, not the burner cartridge. Pull the burners out, insert the grill back into the cooktop a few times feeling for interference or something not seating right. When you find the interlock or sensor, inspect it to see if it is hung up, clean it, adjust it, or tap it lightly. If the switch/sensor is operating properly, reinsert the burners, make sure the fan is turned off, and operate them, checking to see if the fan is now off. If not, there is either a faulty sensor or a fault in the signal line to the control board or in the board itself. But a hung up interlock is what I would be looking for first. Good luck.

Broke glass on electric genn-air

Please do not use the stove if the element is viable because of broken glass, this could become a danger to yourself.

Look at the cost of a new stove, you should be able to get one for
around 400.00. One of my customers had a glass top with 4 burners,
they had the same thing happen, the cost to replace the top was
1,200.00. So I would assume that you can get a new stove with 4
burners less then it would cost to replace the part on a stove you don't like. Maybe there is a LOWES around you to look at stoves,
they seem to be everywhere, like death and taxes.

As for putting a 4 burner top on a stove that has 2 with grill, I don't think it can be done without the extra cost of adding the parts to run the other 2 burners, so like I said in the long run,it just might be cheaper to but a new stove. It should not be a big deal to remove the exhaust from the grill part of the stove.

I looked at the model# you put down, and it does not have a grill,
from what I see, there are 4 burners and a downdraft vent in between the 4 burners, there are 6 models with this part # and none have a grill, only the downdraft vent.

If the model# is right, the cost would be around 300.00 for the glass, and then the cost of having it replaced. So I would say over
400.00, In which case for the same amount you could have a new one, but you must weigh the difference for yourself and see what you think is the best way to go.
If you have any more questions, please post back and everyone is more than willing to help you. I hope I have helped a little.

Exhaust turns on automatically in burner mode

Hello
I have the one with the 4 burners and the grill, and when the grill in on the fan has to come on, and it does automaticly, but once you finish with the grill you have to change it back to stove mode by putting the 2 burners back or the fan will allways go on when you turn the switch. It is a safety regulation for the fan to be on with the grill to avoid the fumes......I know I hate that too.
Hope this help

Cooking element

Hello
If the grilling elements does not get hot enough, then the main reasons for that are:
Escessive air movement across the grill.
Surface controls may not be properly set.
and the voltage maybe low.
But if is not getting hot at all then you can check by exchainging the elements to see if it is the element itself, and if it is the element then you will need to replace it.
I hope this help!!
If you need to replace it I know a place that are very cheap for Jenn-Air parts and super fast delivery...Let me know.

JENNAIR DOWNDRAFT COOKTOP

bibman: Sounds like the control switch or possible loose wiring. Take the element out and test the slots for voltage. You should get 220 Volts when on high.

DMA Jennair The fan motor is bad and needs to be replaced.

I suggest a new cooktop as THIS IS THE WORST DESIGNED COOKTOP I HAVE EVER USED. Not enough power, very hard to clean,
