4920 Any advice would be appreciated. I have just purchased (1 day) Acer Aspire 4290.(vista) The problem is the noise level and frequency of the fan. It seems to be starting up every few minutes. I'm wondering if this is normal for a new system and if it will settle down over time. My old ASUS laptop (xp) with much lower specs has a much quietier and less frequent fan. So the comparison between the 2 is chalk and cheese. Is there anything i can do about the Acer or is this just inherent in this product - and should i just give up and send it back.

No this is quite common, more so since dual core processors as they need cooling more often, you may find it even comes on when surfing the net, because there are allsorts of processes going on in the background, especially in Vista models

Your Asus was lower spec and thats why the cooling fan was less noticeable, some laptops require the fan torun 99% of the time, so enjoy your Acer, they are very reliable.

might not be the fix but try getting the hover and where the fan outlet is give it a good hover the fan can get blocked and this will make the cpu shut down when it gets to hot

I own an acer aspire M5100 about 1 year old, and just recently have been noticing quite a bit of noise at startup, not a great noise either, any advice? also when i slap the back of the computer the noise...
Check fans have not came loose make sure all graphic cards and so on are tight, make sure no wires have falling into fans or are rubbing them. hope this helps in some ways.

Do i need the cables for the router?
To go Wireless on your desktop Acer Aspire L3600, you should consider buying an USB Wireless Adapter. It could be any brand as long have same frequency with your Netgear (i.e 2.4 Ghz/5.8 Ghz)

I don't have any personal experience with other models, i look after 5 Acers, all are atleast 4 years old and running as good as new, if you are not happy, return it as i am on an Acer 5610 at the moment and the fan is not really noisy, different noise on different surfaces; although it cuts in and out every 2-3 or so mins.

Problem with Acer Aspire 4920 notebook
all laptops are supplied with a pre installed copy of windows and the product key will be on a genuine windows sticker on the back, unless you have no sticker, in which case you will need to purchase a copy, as nobody is likely to be able to help if you have no product key and no Vista disc
