How to use power and percent in el-531x scientific calculator.

To use the power, you use the y to the x key, above the EXP key. To enter 2 to the power of 4, you enter 2 hit the y to the x key and enter 4 and hit enter.

To use percent function, you enter the percent key after the number. To calculate Interest, where Interest = Principal x Interest x Time. For example, if the principal is $1,000, the interest rate is 8%, and time/term is 4 years, we would enter 1000 x 8 Percent x 4. When the8 is entered followed by the percent key, it should turn into 0.08.

Percent of increase

change =(new value-old value)/(old value)
Percent change =change*100 %
change=(8900.00-8640.00)/8640.00=0.0301
Percent change=0.0301*100%=3.01%
Since the change is positive, the new value is higher than the old value, this change is an increase.
Percent increase=3.01 %

How to calcolate %

Inputting a value and pressing SHIFT [%] converts the input value to a percent. For example:
2 SHIFT [%] = produces .02

To determine 20% of 150:
150 * 20 SHIFT [%] = produces 30

To calculate what percentage of 880 is 660:
660 / 880 SHIFT [%] = produces 75

To increase 2500 by 15%:
2500 + 2500*15 SHIFT [%] = or
2500 * (1+15 SHIFT [%] ) = produces 2875

To discount 3500 by 25%:
3500 - 3500 * SHIFT [%] = or
3500 * (1-15 SHIFT [%]) = produces 2625

To calculate the percentage change from 40 to 46:
(46 - 40) / 40 SHIFT [%] produces 15

How do you determine absolute value on a TI30XA calculator?

If you are looking for a key, there is none. However, you can still determine the absolute value easily.
  1. If you have a single number and its positive, the absolute value is the number itself.
  2. If you have a single number and it is negative, just drop the leading minus sign or negate it by pressing the change sign key (+ -).
  3. If you are handling a complicated expression just calculate it. When you obtain the final result (a number) use rule 1 or 2 above.
