My player has worked fine for 2 years. I went to play a dvd and it's locked up. Display shows '2910', and no buttons work including drawer open or standby.
Remote doesn't work either. Tried factory reset in tech manual. Power was plugged into Denon receiver and receiver was plugged into excellent surge protector...so almost positive no electrical surge went to player. Is there another master reset for unit. Thanks.

By this time I figure most peoples warranties are expired. So give this a try:
1 Open the case.
2 Turn the unit on and load a disk.
3 On top of the disk transport, you will see a black disk trying to spin as it reads the disk. You might notice that it is a bit quite as the display goes to 00H00M00S. It should be fast and a bit noisy.
4 Try loading a disk again, except this time, try to help that little black disk spin. It might take a couple of attempts, but I was able to get my 2910 working again.
The last year I've had to do this 2-3 times. But it works. From what little I have read, it may just be an issue with lubricating the right part with the right oil. I've narrowed my choices to PTFE 3n1 oil, Lithium oil, or silicone oil.
now I just need to find the right places to oil.
There should be quite a bit of noise and speed

I have exactly the same problem. My player is coming up to 3 yrs old now and regularly locks up on certain DVDs. I'm quite certain it's not a disk problem - it's a hardware/processor lock-up after a second or so of total image break-up. Only fix so far has been to power-cycle the player. Not good. I will be contacting Denon soon.
