If the humming ONLY happens when a cable is plugged into the amp, the problem is in the cable or the guitar. Poor quality cables or wrong cables will result in hum. Defective wiring or connectors in the guitar OR having the guitar near a source of magnetic fields will result in hum. We cannot diagnose these possibilities remotely.

thanks. what I found it to be was, in the same outlet I had one of my effects plugged in, and after I unplugged the effect pedal the noise stopped. Could be my house wiring or the pedal, but it wasn't the amp as you stated. Just a matter of outside interference that had to be tracked down...

I have the same problem. Only when I plug in to it. And yes I usually have my pedal board plugged into the same outlet as the amp. I'll unplug it or try another outlet.

The problem with my Frontman is that both the input jacks are seemingly damaged I've deduced, since when I plug the guitar into my practice amp it works perfectly fine. Its not an issue with the cables I believe. I've heard copper wire could help with connectivity. should i cover the input jacks with copper wire?

No .. it doesnt come from the cable ! if you plugg just a jack without any cable in the connecteur, we have the same problem. Indeed the problem comes fro the last stage of the ampli .. all is ok from the jack entry ( J1ou J2) until operationel ampli TL072 ( U6-B) ..I’ve cnage the op-ampli and the problem is not solved.. If tou plug a jack in the « power in » jack ( J4) you disconnect all the preampli and just the last satge is connected to the HP.. THE PROBLEM IS ALREADY PRESENT.. the amps is cracking when the pream is disconected..The the problem is in the last stage of the ampli.. Then I ve changed the power transistror and driver : Q18-Q20 & Q19-Q21 ..the problem is already present .. Then I think the problem is in a chimical capacitor but I dont know witch one it is .. if somebody has a solution or a clue to look for tde defect , I’d be wery pleased for a help . please mail a clue or solution to mail at [email protected] thanks

If you have single coil pickups with high gain, that would do it

Noise

This seems to be a battery problem unless you use an AC adapter. If it does it on AC, I would check my guitar cord and power supply. The wrong power supply could do that and a bad guitar cord can as well. If you use a speaker cable as an instrument cable, it could do the same.

Buzz coming from elec. guitar pickups only when using Aviom and headphones

It is a definite pickup grounding issue causing hum/"buzz" which diminishes when touching strings. Check the impedance of cable jack inputs and cable which should be 1/4"mono input/output jacks) . A personal preference but effective is to NOT run guitar direct into mixer but through an external amp w/ a headphone out jack . Noise gating/preamp filter also will help eliminate the "buzz"/noise from pickups. It is unfortunately the nature of the "electro-magnetic" beast when it comes to electric guitar pickups .Hope this helps.

I recently purchased a Fender Classic Player Jaguar Special HH as well as a Fender Super Sonic 22 amplifier. I noticed there is a lot of noise coming from the amp with the jag plugged in, especially on the...

"Noise" is not a very good deescription... is it hum? is it static like? is it a buzz? Hum pickup by the pickups of guitars are common and some pickups are worse. If it is hum move the guitar away from magnetic sources like amps, motors, flourescent lights, dimmers... etc. Sme guitars have grounding problems and touching them varies hum. Also, do NOT let the guitar "hear" the amp as it can feedback at frequencies above your hearing even. Do some "sniffing" by moving the guitar and the orientation around the area seeing if you can find hot spots of noise to avoid.

My amp makes this static noise wich goes off as soon as i touch one of the strings or the metal part of the guitar cable. What can i do to make the noise disapear

This is a common problem... Make sure your amp is plugged into a three wire grounded receptacle. Keep the guitar away from magnetic fields of transformers in amps and effects units. Make sure you have a high quality guitar cable.

I've got Takamine JJ 325 My problem is backround noise - What can i do ?

Acoustic guitars pickup noise almost like a microphone. You have to prevent the sound from reaching the guitar or get a solid body guitar.

Pluged in but no sound comes out whats up?

Could be that the male plug isn't connecting in its recepticle, or perhaps an internal wire or other connection is broken. If nervous about looking inside and perhaps resolving the problem, take the guitar to a qualified repair shop

Line 6 spider ii. As soon as I turn on the power I get a huming sound. can not adjust anything. The only sound is the hum. Could it be a transformer problem! much appreciated

Not a transformer problem... this is likely filter capacitors, rectifiers, and PROBABLY a bad amp chip. Service this before it wrecks the speaker.

Output jack

Have you tried another cable between amp and guitar? Usually the cable goes bad first. Have you tried another amp or possibly tried another guitar on your rig? If this still indicates that your guitar's Standard 1/4" TS Jack is noisy, remove the oval cover over the jack and check the solder joints for the wiring. Follow the wires back to the tone and volume pots and check those solder joints. If everything is secure...Plug in, power up and check for noise while turning the volume pots stop to stop. If the pots make a scratching noise, shut down rig and unplug the guitar. Get a can of spray contact cleaner with a small extension tube (available at electronic shops) to spray in the pots while turning them. (May have to remove pots fom the guitar to get at small openings on side of pot can.) Spray jack and test for noise. Jack STILL
noisy...If you can solder...unwire old jack, remove from guitar, take to electronic shop, match to Standard 1/4" TS Jack, install in guitar, resolder wire connections and test. If you cannot solder...take guitar to
a reputable shop or dealer that does this repair. Good Luck! P.S. The
spray contact cleaner can be used on the amp jack, pots and switches
too...just make sure the amp is unplugged from the power supply before
doing any spraying.
