Hi my name is Tim. I own and operate a small guitar repair shop. Recently I have fixed some leass than Pro repair work done by a Taylor repair tech. My question is how do I become a Taylor authorized repair tech and give local Taylor customers a better option.

Taylor guitar # 20060531157 is made in US?

The 2 Taylor factories, in El Cajon CA, and in Tecate Mex., are quite close, and before 2008 it seems that pieces of the one guitar were made in both places.

Yours was made in May 2006, and that is the most likely scenario for it. Mexican made Taylors are apparently considered to be just as good as US made Taylors.

I have seen it reported that from 2008, more production was done in Tecate, and a guitar made there completely should have 'Made in Mexico' visible somewhere on it or deep inside.

Pick up cutting out on guitar

If you've tried different leads and the problem still exists, then the problem is probably in the guitar; could be a a bad pickup, or bad tone control, or loose wire on the jack. I suggest you have it looked at by a reputable music shop that does repair work.

I recently had my fender acoustasonic telecaster checked out because the volume kept shorting out. It seems the volume pot was dirty or had a short. Took it to my local fender guitar and fender electronic...

If the problem is actually the volume knob, then the guitar shop did not fix it and you should bring it back. There is a test you can do to see if the problem is your volume knob. With the guitar unplugged, you can turn the knob up to the max and down to the min a lot of time (like 50-100 times or more) plug it back in and see if the problem is a little bit better, if it is I would bring it back to the repair shop and demand they fix it properly.

The problem could be the cable you are using. Sometimes it can seem like it's a volume knob problem when really it's a cable issue. Jiggle the cable and connector while the guitar is plugged in to see if the sound cuts out at all or you get crackling.

Recently purchased a taylor 214ce. when plugged in, it produces a distorted sound after playing for sometime. any idea what the problem might be?

Replace the battery. Batteries tend to recover and then go down again when they get weak. Use GOOD alkaline batteries NEVER rechargeable types.

I have a Taylor classical guitar with a Fishman pro blend mic/pickup system. I installed the battery incorrectly. The battery was warm by the time I realized the mistake and took it out. Now the system...

Most active pickups contain a protective diode which will take the heat (so to speak) should something happen like you describe. Once this occurs, the diode usually needs to be replaced. Depending upon which one you have will determine whether or not this can be done. Some require complete replacement. I'm a bit curious how this happened because most battery compartments will not allow the battery to be inserted incorrectly. Regardless of the cause, the pickup will require a bit of repair work. If there is access to the electronics portion, the repair is relatively simple.

This is not typically a DIY repair though.

No sound

Guitar amps are not difficult things to use, so if your speaker is properly connected and all the controls are set to allow proper operation, or at least some operation, and it isn't operating, it's a good bet that it needs a trip to a pro audio repair shop.

Guitar Repair - Small damage near the bridge.

I've had 50-50 luck with steaming dings using a thin cloth folded over a couple times and an iron. Sometimes it works magically, other times it doesn't do much.

Good luck.

A HUMMING Peavey Classic 30

I repaired a classic 50 recently and the problem was a bad solder connection on the main input jack. You may also want to have the tubes tested.

If the unit is over 20+ years have it recapped.

I do this stuff but Vermont might be to far.
