It sound like a faulty chip on the cartridge, you could try cleaning the contacts on both the cartridge and the printer to see if that helps but personally I think it will be the chip. new cartridge or chip im afraid. I could have helped you more if you had included in your question the make of printer etc.

sorry I didnt see it you did add the make., same answer though

When I put a new Black ink in my Canon MX452 it shows my black as empty

Hi

if the black cartridge is genuine and new...take it back. It is faulty.
If the cartridge is refilled or compatible...hold the STOP button for 6+ seconds to disable ink monitoring. This should clear the 'empty' error and the printer should work again.

good luck!

How do I change the toner?

The Fax-2480c does not use toner cartridges.
This is an inkjet and so uses ink cartridges.

There are 4 cartridges, black, yellow, cyan (blue) and magenta (red). If any of these cartridges are empty, you need replace them.

This machine takes LC-51 cartridges.
You're probably out of warranty so jsut get refills... it's cheaper

Refill cartridges

This is normal.
Printer will warn the ink is getting low. almost empty very nearly empty....

then (in effect) it says if you want to use refilled cartridges you can but it may void printer warranty. Press yellow flashing button for 5 seconds to "release ink detection" (summat like that).

Printer will continue to print but shows the cartridge as empty. Its your responsibility to make sure you do not run out.

It does this separately for each colour - tedious for the pro9000 with 8 colours

Epson c62 color ink cartridge says it is empty when i just refill

I use cheap replacement cartridges about 20$ for 3 color/5 black....the printer usually doesnt recognize the cartridges ink level but it still prints......do you use actual epson replacements? If you use cheaper replacements you might have gotten some with dud chips...prob the cartridges fault, not your printer

Only black cartridge empty, but 3 full color crtrige say empty

Remove the color cartridges. On one end you can see the opaque
ink tank inside the main cart. housing. Cut a piece of black electrical
tape to fit around the three sides visible of the ink tank. Make sure the tape fits inside the housing and adheres to the tank itself. This makes the printer think your ink is always full but you can always tell when you need to refill/replace the ink(right?). Good Luck!

How to Override Ink Level Gauge When Using Refilled Cartridges

Above link great.
If you have a newer print cartridge cart, look for the little window. I put a sticker over the little window on the Brother (innobella) LC38 cartridge cart and it worked great :)
Despite finding a fix for this problem, I think this is a rip off setting on the brother printers and I will never buy another Brother printer for this reason.

Excessive Yellow ink use

Issue The printer is working, but the colors in the printed output are not the expected colors. The output may look as if only one color has printed, or as if a color has not printed, or as if the wrong colors have been printed. Solution Complete the following steps to resolve this issue. Step one: Check ink levels If the print defect is minor, it might be caused by reserve mode operation. When the printer runs out of some colors, it can continue printing using remaining inks, but print quality may be affected. If cyan, magenta, or yellow is out, the printer can print only in grayscale.
NOTE: HP cannot guarantee the quality or reliability of non-HP ink. If ink cartridges have been refilled, try replacing them with genuine HP ink cartridges. Replace any empty print cartridges. To access the ink level gauge, follow these steps.
  1. Press Setup .
  2. Press c00707172.gif to select Tools , then press OK .
  3. Select Display Ink Gauge and press OK . The ink levels are displayed. Figure 1: Ink levels c00410056.gif
    • Each icon corresponds to the cartridge that is the color of the icon. The icons are also in the same order, from left to right, as the cartridges in the printer.
    • If an icon is empty, the corresponding cartridge may need to be replaced soon.
    • The ink levels in non-HP, refilled, and remanufactured cartridges cannot be read by the printer. Instead of an icon, a question mark is displayed for these cartridges. HP cannot guarantee the quality or reliability of non-HP ink. Printer service or repairs required as a result of printer failure or damage attributable to the use of non-HP ink will not be covered under warranty.
Step two: Calibrate the color If the cartridges have not been refilled and none are empty, try calibrating the color.
  1. Open the printer Toolbox :
    1. Open HP Solution Center (click Start , then All Programs , then HP , then HP Solution Center ).
    2. If you have more than one printer installed, make sure to select the correct printer tab in HP Solution Center .
    3. Click Settings .
    4. Click Print Settings .
    5. Click Printer Toolbox .
  2. On the Device Services tab, click Calibrate Color , then follow the onscreen instructions. The procedure takes about two minutes and requires two sheets of paper.
Step three: Clean the printhead If the steps above did not help, clean the printhead.
  1. Open the All-in-One Toolbox :
    1. Open HP Solution Center (click Start , click All Programs , click HP , and then click HP Solution Center ).
    2. If you have more than one All-in-One installed, make sure to select the correct All-in-One tab in HP Solution Center .
    3. Click Settings .
    4. Click Print Settings .
    5. Click Printer Toolbox .
  2. On the Device Services tab, click Clean the Print Cartridges , and then follow the onscreen instructions. Three levels of cleaning are available.
Step four: Contact HP If the error still occurs, click the link at the bottom of this page to contact HP.

Ink cartridge lights blinking

That is happening because you have "smart" chips on your cartridges, so even though you know there is still some ink left in the tank, if the chip says stop, the printer will stop printing. There is a way to bypass that and that is by using a re-setter. You can either buy one or ask to re-set your cartridge in a refill shop.
You can also try holding the "resume" button (triangle in circle for about 10 seconds for each cartridge, sometimes doing that resets the cartridges.
Do not refill the magenta and cyan cartridges if they are not empty, you'll just be wasting your money. Better use it to buy a re-setter ;)
Hope that will help!

Near empty yellow

Do print until the message EMPTY (Printer stopps printing). DO NOT refill or change cart when message is shown: NEAR EMPTY! You fool the printers logic. Machine counts down the rest of the ink in the cart. When you refill at that moment the counter is disoriented! To clear the counter: Unplug powercord. Take carts out. Wait 3 min. Plug in power. Machine demands carts. Do use carts at full level (refill before you put them in). Works normal afterwards.
