Vacuum Condensor Light & temperature

Our vacuum condensor light keeps coming on. We've vacuumed the condensor thoroughly and when we turn it back on it goes off for awhile and then comes back on. We were told we needed to shut off the refrig, unplug it for 5-10 minutes for it to reset. When we did this, it held it's temperature and the vacuum condensor light stayed off for about 2 days, when then put the grill on the front back on and as soon as we did that, the temperature went back up to 42-44. When we take the grill off, the temp comes down but the vacuum condensor light stays on. Any suggestions???????? No ice on the back wall of the freezer and it holds it's temp.

Our is doing the same thing, except we do not have ice forming on the back of the freezer. We were told by a refrigeration repair company that if ice is forming on the back of the freezer then the compressor is bad.

One more thing to look at. There is a water drain tube that takes condensation from the inside of the refrigerator and transports it to a collection pan under the until. Subzero used a "covered coil" type tube for this. If any food particals become hung up on one of the coils in the tube water will back up and cause ice to form on the evaporator. The system is dumb and will tell you to vacuum the condensor under this condition as well. I replaced the Subzero OEM tubing with a hunk of rubber fuel line and never had ths problem again.

SOURCE: Subzero 561 Fridge side works, Freezer side working fine

Sounds like a cold control. It is located behind the panel and can be ohmed out to check for proper operation. You need to remove the light shield then after the shelves have been taken out remove the two screws that hold the fan shroud in place. This will allow back panel to come for so you can check the cold control. It should read as a short in all positions except off when the cap tubes have come to ambient temp. If you get the back off and see ice on only a small portion of the evaporator you have a sealed system problem and need a qualified technician.

SOURCE: 8 year old Sub-Zero model 690. Condensor coil leaking

When copper and aluminum are connected it cannot be welded, it has to be crimped. this is a problem that is not exclusive to sub zero, an all aluminum evaporator ( if it is in the refrigerator it's an evaporator) should resolve the problem nicely

The condensor is clean, but the vacum condensor lights keep coming on. What do I do?

when "vacuum condenser" or "service" lights r on, it means compressor is running more time than desired. most common issue that freon leaks out at evaporator in fresh food section. thats the most common issue with all subzero models. Hope thats helpful.

Sub zero 690 vacuum condensor light flashing, clean vac. condensor, light still flash after 2 days.

I assume from your post you have vacuumed the condensor at the top of the unit? Did you do this regularly over the life of the unit? You have shut the unit off for at least 5 minutes (allowing it to reset) and then turned it back on and the vac condensor light still flashes? I had this same thing happen - unfortunately for me I have had to replace the condensor twice in the 12 years I have owned the unit. Luckily first time was covered by warrantly (parts and labor). Second time was in the 11th year and the parts were covered, and the labor was covered 50% after I complained......It ended up being a leak in the sealed system (condensor). If it keeps happening you may want to call for service - could be that it just needs freon, but it could be the condensor)

Have a sub-zero 601F about 10 years old and the 'vacuum condensor' light is flashing whenyou open the door in the same box as the temperature.

You should first vacuum condenser coil on top (looks like radiator coil in the car), then try to reset it by turning it off and back on. Otherwise it indicates that it's running too much and most likely it's not getting cold enough.

Vacuum condensor light flashing and the refrigerator won't get colder than 51 degrees.

The light is indication a problem with the condenser coils being covered with dust/dirt and cannot dissipate the heat energy absorbed by the system in the evaporator coils (freezer). Or the condenser fan is not running. Clean the condensor and/or check the fan.

Subzero 680 - vacuum condensor message won't go away.

You can reset it by turning the unit on and off or if you have a door alarm button hold that for 30 seconds and that should clear the fault code.

My vaccume condensor light is flashing and my refrigerator is 55 degrees. I vaccumed the coils on the side of the fan What could be the problem ?

You may need to unplug the fridge for a few hours and let it reset itself. Also make sure coils are clean and there is plenty of air flow to the condensor..

Sub zero 690

Call the factory at 800-222-7820.They will give you a list of the authorized servicers in your area. It sounds like the evaporator and the parts will be covered by the year 6 through 12 parts only warranty. If you are in Westchester County $625 sounds right. The vacuum condensor flashes when the compressor has too long of a run time and will reaapear a day or so after it has been reset. I assume the tech made sure the condensor fan was running and the condensr is actually clean.
