Hello, welcome to FixYa.

It sounds like the hi-limit safety thermostat may be tripped, the scenario you described is exactly how this would manifest

"clock, timer.& oven don't work. No electric on top panel All burners are fine"
...that is the component that typically trips/activates during a self clean on many ranges. You shouldn't need to open the front control panel, but access is through the back. (this can also occur during power surges)

You'll need to slide the range/oven outfrom the cabinet. If you slide the unit away from the wall and unplug it you can check the hi-limit.

It will either be a non-reset type hi-limit or push to reset. If non-reset it needs to be replaced, if push to reset type, simply pushing in the red button will get you back up and cooking in no time.

**Unplug the range from the wall first of course...safety first**

Once you remove the panel you will need to look for a switch/thermostat which looks like either of these...

NON-RESET
clock,timer.& oven don't work. No electric - macmarkus_1079.jpg

PUSH TO RESET

The replacement if necessary are available at "searspartsdirect.com" or "repairclinic.com" to name a couple.

Let me know how you make out. Good luck. I'll watch for your reply and if you need anything further I'll be glad to help in any manner I can.

Regards,

Macmarkus :)

This should apply to virtually all ranges...in some manner. The specific location may vary, but most have hi-limits of some type...one just needs to locate and identify if it is open (bad) or closed (good). Hope that helps. Good luck. Regards, Macmarkus :)

GE JS900 electric range stovetop works fine but no lights or clock on control panel so the oven cannot be turned on.

You will probably have to replace the main control board- the cooktop operates independently of the ovens, so your symptom is not uncommon... GE Range Stove Oven Oven Control Board WB27T10416

I have a Whirlpool Electric Range GY399LXUS. The oven will not turn on. The top burners work, the only button that works on the keypad is the warm button.

I am an Appliance Technician...... and you need a new clock/ECM The part where the clock is & the oven controls... under there is a big circut board that is basicaly the motherboard for your oven. And I'm sorry to inform you that I just used your model number to look up the board and it is NO LONGER AVAILABLE.... that means they just don't make that part for your oven anymore. Whirlpool didn't use that design very long because they didn't sell well, they were expensive to produce, and they had a few too many problems out of em. So BAD NEWS is they don't make the part you need to fix your oven....GOOD NEWS is you get to go shopping for a Range!!! And BUY WHIRLPOOL!!!!!! DO NOT BUY LG,SAMSUNG, GE, FRIGIDAIRE, OR ELECTROLUX!!!!

We were given an electric smooth top kenmore range. When it was initially plugged in, the digital panel came on. When the stove was pushed into place, the digital clock/timer went off and the oven won't...

The electronic timer/clock must be working and be in manual mode for the oven to work. Try turning the power off and on and see if it resets. If is doesn't you might need a new timer unit. If you don't need the timer and clock it can be easily by-passed at the rear by joining the active and load wires and the oven will work.

It sounds as if the electronic clock/timer has failed and needs replacing. If you don't use the timer and don't need the clock it can be bypassed so that the oven will still work. A repair person should be able to do this fairly easily.

WE have a GE Stove top Range. The burners aren't

If you have power to the stove as in the oven light works and the clock works but the burners and oven will not work you only have 120 volts coming to the stove. The stove requires 240 volts for the burners and oven to work. Check the service panel for a blown fuse. There will be 2 fuses in the fuse holder. One of them is blown. If that is not the case then one of the wires has come loose either in the service panel or in the outlet behind the stove. Use a multimeter to check the input voltage at the outlet.

Sears Kenmore Elite Oven 790.99123405 Caught Fire!!!

The PF indicates a power failure.
The range experienced a loss of electrical power.
This code is usually cleared by pressing the CLEAR/OFF button.
If you continue to get this code, you may need to unplug the range and check the wiring connections of the power cord on the back of the range.
