Have you tried taking out your battery for a couple min and putting back in? Also, there are other ways to reset your phone.

Also, make sure your battery is charged because it could be low on battery.

Im not so sure of the problem by your given description but it could probably be a software malfunctiontry updating the softwareprefer going to a nokia care and have it updated

Sometimes a hard reset can fix some of these issues. While the phone is ON remove the battery cover and remove the battery and leave it out for a couple minutes then reinsert the battery and turn the phone back on.

Is it the same computer you've always used? It could be the OS not recognizing your phone or a bad USB port, if it is the same computer, most likely it's your phone. Try doing a firmware update and see if that helps. You'll have to use a microSD adapter to save it to your card since the cable doesn't work.

There have been a lot of complaints about it and it nearly prevented me 2 buy it
In my it is Problem Free i brought it in september i live in the middle east & was SURPRISED not 2 find any 1 pRoblem of restart It Works Perfect u can mail me & ask AT [email protected] 
Most of the CFomplaints r from the peaople living in UK infact i think a defective Batch went 2 the UK as mE & My friends none of them have the Problem
I even Expirmented it As shown on You tube

for the cellphone automatically switched off the problem is the switch,if there is one who look anf fixed that cellphone but he did not fixed try to consult to another cellphone technician maybe it will fixed.

its may be diue eo virus infection remove memory card and dial code *7370# and *7780# . the phone restars and formts itself . during every code the phone ask for security code ( defult is 12345 ) and restars . if problem soves formt ur mmory card and reinsert it
