Wherer are you printing this, A4 is european, north america would use letter, etc..
if you go to control panel, open the printers and faxes folder, right click the printer in question, a window will pop up, click on properties.. a new window should open. click on "Printing Defaults" or "Printing Preferences" then click on "Advanced" ( I believe it should be to the lower left) that will open another window, in paper size make it Letter if your in N America, A4 for Euro.. this will set the deafult print..
Click ok, then print a test page from the general tab..

The reason you getting this LOAD LETTER message. your excel page setup is set to print to letter, your machine is set to print top A4

If you open Excel then go to Print then a window should pop up where you select the printer you want to use, click on Properties, then Lay out, then Advanced, and input the correct paper size before you print.

does this happen with all excels files, or one particular?
Create a new Excel file, and try printing it.. possibly could be in that particular file. I have seen this happen alott particulary with PDF files.. Where the incorrect paper size is in the file..

Unable to print on network it is showing offline or load letter. How to resolve?

I can help you with your HP Laserjet 4 printer problem.

Ensure the paper is loading correctly from the paper tray by reloading paper and printing locally.

If the printer prints locally, then paper loading is not the problem. Select your printer from the Control Panel > Printers list, right click and choose Sharing to re-setup printer sharing.

I hope that helps.

How do is set third tray as my default tray?

In your printer preferences, changer paper 'source'. For this specific printer the HP Laser Jet 4: Under the "General" Tab there is a button LEFT of "print test page". Click on that [printing preferences], the next window that comes up, click on the top tab that reads "Paper/Quality" and select 'lower tray' or your tray of choice.

Prints from Manual Tray instead of Tray 4

Open a document. Select File>Page Setup and change the Source to Tray 4.

Or...

Try to print something. When the Print window comes up, select Preferences. On the Print/Quality tab look for the drop down menu labeled "Source is:" and change it to the tray you want. Click on the Save button.

I HAVE LASERJET 4 PLUS. WHEN I GIVE JOB FOR PRINTING THE PRINTER DISPLAYS A MESSAGE AS PC LOAD LEGAL. PLS HELP ME IN SOLVING THE PROBLEM

The document you're trying to print is formatted for legal size paper, and the tray contains only letter size. if it's a legal size, put legal paper into the MP tray, or override the setting and manually select "letter size" in the printer dialog box.

Only first page prints out with HP LaserJet 4 plus

i would say reinstall the driver, wouldnt be a schoolboys trick even sometimes the schoolboys know more than the teachers when it comes to technology.

Try the machines with a seporate machine thats a freash install and see it does the same thing, this a driver issue, and sometimes the students can hack into the machine and asking the printer to just print just one page of the document, you can select pages in a print box in word / Internet explorer for example.

And you can ask the printer to print two pages onto one page.
