A voice over Internet protocol device, magicJack allows you to make and receive telephone calls from your computer using a USB device. While magicJack does not officially support sending and receiving faxes, you can connect a regular fax machine to the magicJack device to send and receive faxes.
Attach the magicJack device to a USB port on your computer.
Connect the phone wire to the port at the end of the magicJack device.
Connect the other end of the phone wire to the "Input" jack on your fax machine.
Turn off error correction on your fax machine, and set your fax machine to the lowest possible transmission speed. Consult your fax machine's user guide if you do not know how to turn off the error correction or lower the transmission speed on your fax machine.
Send a fax to your magicJack phone number to receive a fax. You can find your magicJack phone number at the top of the magicJack splash screen that will display on your computer after inserting the magicJack device.
Send a fax from your magicJack by loading the fax you want to send into your fax machine and pressing the "Send" button.
"cannot send or receive faxes to one particular number, but is able to send and receive faxes with other numbers"
If your machine can receive a fax transmission from one number, it will receive from all numbers.
If your machine can send to all but not to one particular number, please check that there is a fax machine there to receive it.
You can try to send manually and listen for beeps from the other fax -if one is present- then push the START button to initiate transmission. If their machine is in working order, the transmission should start. (After the initial 'handshake' of course.)
Go to menu option and choose the option fax and set the parameter like auto receive or manual set the ring auto answer mode after certain ring. If it is in auto receiving mode it will receive the fax after the ring which you set. Make sure the phone wire which you insert in fax machine getting proper dial tone and getting out going calling facility. Have a nice day and do not forget to rate please...!
Check to make sure the company phone is not setup in the fax machine. If it is, it will need your number to receive. Not all fax machines have this type setup but its worth checking. I'd go though the complete setup at your number. Hope this helps. Bud
I would suggest there is nothing actually wrong with your machine, as you can indeed receive faxes from other parties. The problem mostly likely lies with the equipment and/or lines of the sending party. One thing you might suggest to them is to turn off ECM (Error Correction Mode) and/or lowering the sending/receiving speed of the machine - preferably the sending speed of the sending party.
