My Sony Tv has a blue discoloration line at the bottem of the screen. Also there are some 'glitter like specks' on the screen. What could be the problem?

Probably you need an optical block, but it would take a tech looking at it to be sure

Replace the main lamp( sony XL-220). Step by step instructions in owners manual, takes about 10 minutes and is very simple.

Bad news: The issue can only be solved by replacing the optical block for the TV. This was a defect in the design of this TV. Replacing this part is very expensive (over $1000) and time consuming (need to take whole TV apart).
Good news: Sony extended the warranty for the optical block for this model. They are covering the cost of parts and labor for this TV. Contact Sony to have them refer you to a authorized service center near you.
