Step1
Turn off the TV, and unplug it. Make sure to disconnect it from the outlet completely.
Step2
Locate the bulb door of the TV. This is often on the back, near the power cord. Slide the door open and reveal the bulb.
Step3
Unscrew the screws. Some screws are thumbscrews, while others may require a screwdriver.
Step4
Gently remove the bulb. Pull the bulb out of the compartment, usually
by grasping a handle and then pulling out and slightly down.
Step5
Install the new bulb. Line up the groove on top of the new bulb's housing with the groove pocket on the inside of the television. Slide the new one into place.
Step6
Tighten the screws. Do not overtighten them; they should be finger-tight only.
Step7
Close the door. Make sure it is closed completely or the TV will not operate.

Hi,do you hear any strange noises? If you hear clicking or like wanting to turn on it could be the board that powers the lamp it's called the ballast. But if you don't hear any strange noises,tv is around 6000 hrs,2-4 yrs it could be time to replace the lamp. The lamp you need is UX21513.You can find it here: http://www.discount-merchant.com/Hitachi-UX21513-LM500-Replacement-UHP-Lamp-Proj-p/hitach-ux21513-lm500-lamp-bulb.htm?Click=48173 Have a blessed one!
Hi, Does the set come on for about 30 sec.? I had a 50V715 hitachi, it came on for about 30 sec. then shut down and then it would repeat the process. After about 3 wks and alot of other pain, it turned out to be the lamp was weak. Replaced the lamp and all is great! So... it could be your lamp is going bad. Hope this is helpful.
Hi I don't know what model you have, but the 50v715 I have, did the same thing and it turned out to be the lamp. If the lamp has not been changed in a couple of years, its probably time to get a new one. I hope this is helpful.
If is the lamp and temp light on the front panel, then it could be that the bulb (lamp) needs to be replaced. Make sure you buy an original replacement lamp (phillips) they are supposed to last longer. There are also videos on you-tube that show you how to replace the lamp. Hopw this is helpful.
I would check to see if any of the fans stop turning or don't turn when set turns on. They do have sensors monitoring them and the set will shut down if they are not turning. I believe there are three fans around the chassis.
Hope this helps,
Skyassoc
Have you replaced the lamp ? Make sure the door cover is closed good because there is a switch that is made when the door cover is put back on. Also you could have a bad ballast board or bad power unit board. Just a thought...... Hope this is helpful.
I don't know what model you have,but... I have a 50v715 and it was doing the same thing and it turned out to be the lamp. So if you have not replaced the lamp in a while then it could just be it time. Hope this is helpful.
