Sometimes it just shows up in "my computer" as a "removable drive".

Thanks Ty but nothing is showing up in these places either, it is as if there is no connection at all. We have 3 other digital cameras in the family that all work fine when downloading, is there any other possible reason ?

If the only reason to connect your camera to the computer is to download the pics, why not use a separate card reader instead? That's what the pros do. It's faster and much more reliable.

When I am connecting my Samaung Digital model S860 with PC having Windows Xp (Profectional) via USB cable, nothing is happening at PC screen. Also I don't have driver CD with my camera. Please sen

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

When I connect My Samsung VP-D77i Camcorder to my Laptop I always get a message saying "cant open camera device". My Laptop does not have a fire wire port but only with USB ports. It has Windows 7 Pre

First, try attaching the camcorder via usb cable with the camera OFF, then turning it on. This may trigger Windows to activate the driver scanner and activate the driver. If you've been attaching with camcorder off, try attaching with it on, to see if that activates driver installation.

If that doesn't work, you may have a low-power usb plug; often the usb ports in the back of the computer put out more juice than the handy ones on the front. You may also need a shorter and more robust usb cable; I've found with various cameras and phones that certain usb cables work fine for recharging but won't necessarily provide adequate data transfer.

When i press the power button the led light flashes but it doesn't do nothing

That could mean a lens failure. Try to hook up adapter to computer if you haven't tried new batteries. Lens failure is quite common and it is best to spend a few bucks at a camera shop instead of trying to force it to work.

I need to download a driver for S860

The computer does not talk to the phone,it only see the card that is in the camera.

So a card must be in the camera for the computer to see it.
It only uses a usb driver to see the card, so xp and vista should see it. After you plug in the camera windows will pop up a little window
and say something, like, found new hardware, installed, could not install.

If you go to the website of samsung, you will see that the only driver they have is for win 98, that is because it only uses a usb driver like I said, and xp and vista already use these drivers.
