Do you have a gas or electric dryer?
If you have a gas dryer, check for the following:Fried ignitor.
This is definitely the case if the igniter is visibly broken. Measure
for 120v at the igniter terminals. If you get 120v, it’s faulty.
Failed gas valve or holding valve coil.
Check the resistance on each valve coil. You may also need to actuate
each valve with a test cord since they may only fail after being
actuated a couple of times. One of the thermostats are open. Check continuity.
Bad flame sensor. If flame fails to ignite at all and the igniter is not getting 120v, suspect the flame sensor.
For an electric dryer that runs but doesn’t heat, follow this repair roadmap:Flip the circuit breaker off and then back on. Electric dryers run
on a two-pole, 240v breaker. A common problem is for one of the legs to
break which cuts the 240v that the elements need to heat up but it
still supplies the 120v for the motor. The result is that the dryer
runs but doesn’t heat.If the breaker checks out, then unplug the dryer and open it up. Disassembly instructions are here for all common brands.
Use your ohm meter to test the thermostats. All should show continuity.
Measure the resistance of the heating element with your ohm meter. Normal readings are in the neighborhood of 30 ohms.
In rare cases, the centrifugal switch in the motor can fail which
breaks the power circuit for the heating elements. If this is the case,
then the entire motor must be replaced since the centrifugal switch is
built into the motor.Bad timer contact in heater circuit. You gotta use the wiring diagram here. If you can’t do this, call a pro.
Bad temperature selector switch

It could be the fault of timer.
it could also be the two thermostats.
and also the two heating elements.
it also Sounds like your start switch is bad and it will stop when you open the door but comes back on when you close it, or when you open the door it dosent stop and will still run that sound like a bad door switch ,
or it could either be the problem
It is possibe that you have dropped one side of your power and the machine is only getting 120 volts and not 240 like it should it will still run, but wont heat insure there is 240 volts to the machine if you have continiuty on both of those this could quite possibly be the problem!!!!!!!
Often a
dryer heating element burns out, but doesn't trip the circuit breaker
or blow a fuse. The heating element is simply a long coil of special
wire. You can check it for continuity with an ohm meter. No continuity
means the element is bad and you need to replace it--electric heating
elements aren't repairable.

It sounds like the heater coil is defective. You can purchase replacements at Sears. They are not teriibly hard to replace but if you don't feel comfortable, Sears can install them.

Usually problem like this with electrical solenoids located on the top of gas valve inside the dryer. They need to be replace.

mostly you need a thermal fuse,,take the back of ,,maybe 12 1/4 nut driver screws,,you will see a little white fuse,,replace it..onthejob
