I need to teardown and repair the transmission on a Hobart mixer M802. I am unable to find a service manual for that purpose (Instructions/parts manuals do not tell you how to disassemble the transmission)

You should be able to purchase the manual. I know that Hobart abandoned that policy a few years back -- unless they re-instated it. Call Mother Hobart and ask. 937-332-3000

There is a few tricks to these units, it would be tough to convey here. But here goes...

Remove back cover. Loosen 6 or 7 screws around outside of motor windings. Thump the nose of the mixer downward to break the seal. Watch for spacer washers where shafts go into motor case. Remove spring. Remove idler. Remove shifting guide. Remove gear assy. Leave beveled gears in place if possible. Clean. Use Darina II grease. (20 oz) Clean and permatex "seal". Tighten mounting bolts. Adjust set screw at back of planetary. (Double set screw. The first one is to lock the adjustment.) Test in 1st and then 3rd while turning the set screw. You just make it quiet for a proper adjustment.

Good luck -- Mike

SOURCE: Hobart A200 Mixer not working

Sundance,
Please visit the corp website www.hobartcorp.com and click on the "Sign In" link in the upper right hand corner. You'll need to complete a brief registration form, but then you'll land in the Hobart Resource Center.

Hobart no longer manufactures the A200 mixer - but you can review and download a user manual and a parts catalog from the Resource Center on your mixer. That should help you understand the parts need.

We do sell replacement parts direct to end users, just visit our service website at www.hobartservice.com - and click on the "Locate on Office" link. You'll be able to contact your local Service branch to purchase a replacement part OR to have them take a look at the unit and provide a quote on fixing it.

If you have additional questions on Hobart products - please contact me at [email protected] .

Thanks!
SHerri

What oil should I use for the Hobart Mixer P660?

A good standard 90 wt oil is what is ok for the gearcase. This is an old email from a hobart service tech and they recomend a special oil ordered from them. So you can decide which you want to use. "EXXON SPARTAN EP-150 (6 oz)" in the M802 planetary. Hobart part #102973-13. This IS NOT a food grade oil. If you mixer is leaking you shouldhave it serviced. HELLO, My name is Timothy and I got a motor repaired for the Hobart H 600 stand mixer and I need to ask one Question. What is the gear oil that this model takes as I lost some of the gear oil during...

Planetary takes six ounces 150 weight gear oil if completely drained (i.e. Exxon Spartan EP 150 or equivalent). Transmission uses one gallon 460 weight (yeah, 460 weight!) gear oil (Exxon Spartan EP 460 or equivalent).

What type of gear lube should I use for my Hobart H600 mixer?

Hi, btperduell

below is a copy of an e-mail from Horartservice.com. I searched the web forhours for the correct oil and could not find any info so I e-mailed Hobart. The Planetary is a different part from the transmission andthe sight glass on a M802 is for the oil in the transmission. The answer that Hobart gave is not an NSF oil. Ineeded the oil for the planetary section on a model M802. Even the directionssay that it is normal for a drop of oil to occasionally drip from the seal. That is where the dough hook attaches. I am in the process of researching the oil and Exxon / Mobildoes make a NSF version. I just need to find somewhere I can buy less then a 55-gallondrum. The above mixer only uses 6 ounces. Take care and stay safe Thank you Mike Hobart E-mail follows ============================================================== Mike, Hobartuses "EXXON SPARTAN EP-150 (6 oz)" in the M802 planetary. My Hobart D300 mixer appears to be leaking oil/grease

Hi,I'm a hobart tech and repair these mixer's often. If you see oil in the drip cup then the center shaft seal in the transmission is worn.If there is oil near the transformer then the motor shaft seal is also bad.Hobart doesnt release their service manuals to the public but if you go to their site www.hobartcorp.com you can register for free and get a parts manual thats helpful. If you need help with the repair let me know,i can step you through it.
