SOURCE: 3 beeps at start
i had the same problem with the beeping, i changed the rams and now its working fine. works for me, good luck
SOURCE: error beeping 1 long beep follow by 2 shorts beeps
Hi , the problem is with the videochipset witch is down.....general problem at the HP seria Pavilion!!! You can solve it only by replaceing the motherboard or by another notebook!!!
SOURCE: blank screen long beep 2 short beeps at startup.
The 1 long 2 short beep code means a problem in the video circuitry and the laptop can't initialize the display. This is usually caused by failure of the integrated video chipset. Unfortunately, on a laptop you can't just open the case and install a new video card like you can on a desktop. You need to replace the mainboard. Replacements are available online. Here is one source found by a Google search. (I'm just using this as an example. I haven't dealt with this site.)
The 4 beep code means no memory detected when the computer started up. No surprise there since you had taken it out.
SOURCE: HP laptop display issue
If you are recving 1 long and two short beeps, it is not a memory problem.
It is not a Lid closing or lid switch problem.
If you are able to switch to and from your LCD and Monitor, you are lucky.
I have been up and down the road with several HP DV6000 series units, all have had the 1 long and 2 shot beeps.
HP is aware of this problem and has offered an extended 1 year from date of original warranty expiration. Another words 2 years from date of purchase. HP will ask for $365.00 + or - ? for this repair.
Their repair consists of a motherboard replacement.
If you go to HP's web site, you can look up your model and if in warranty, have it sent back for repair.
The problem will not get better in time but only worsen. The heat sink on the dual core units is not handling the heat transfer properly.
The board is a 2 sided wafer which has displayed failure in several places, due to the heat load and transfer design. Area of problem is directly under NVIDIA chip look for craters. Theses are solder points the size of a pins head which because of the heat and the stress of the transfer bracket above, have separated making in some cases an intermittent connection to chip.
The best thing to do is have a technician remove the board from inspection and blow out the heat sink and surrounding areas.
Apply new heat sink tape and grease where needed and re-assemble.
You must update your BIOS ver. to current.
This new version will address the Voltage and Fan Control Speeds in a better manor.
If your unit is just now giving you these errors, now is the time to act.
Just like in a A/C unit at home, a restricted air flow will make unit run longer and hotter.
Their are no filters here, once lint and dust have collected in the coils, it is just a matter of time.
Hope this helps you in your problems.
Anybody reading this note having a DV6000 series unit, should check at their web site for warranty and call back issues.

P.S. if you are a technician and feel you want to repair the board yourself, drop me an email with the model number and I will explain in more detail.
SOURCE: black screen on booting my Compaq 610 notebook
If it seems like you're accessing the hard drive (drive light comes on, flickers intermittently, then goes off, it's a good chance your screen is bad.
First thing to do is plug in an external monitor and start up the laptop. If it comes up with windows, you know it's the screen.
To find out if it's the backlight, or the lcd, toggle the monitor function and shine a flashlight on a slight angle to the screen. If you can faintly see what was displayed on the external monitor, then the backlight inverter is probably bad.
If the external monitor didn't come up, you're probably looking at a motherboard.
The good thing is that all of those are covered for one year under Compaq's warranty, on a new machine.
If you are able to use the external monitor, back up your data, because HP/Compaq usually reformat the harddrive. Additionally, if you've added memory, pull the cards. They want it sent back the way it came from the factory.
Updating the BIOS will require a USB flash drive to store
the BIOS information on during the update. To perform the update to the BIOS:
1.
Go here http://support.acer.com/us/en/product/default.aspx and download the
latest (check the latest date) BIOS for the netbook.
2.
Extract the files from the downloaded zipped BIOS file.
3.
In the Dos_Flash folder, rename the BIOS file from 3310.fd
to ZG5IA32.FD, in all capital letters.
4.
Copy ZG5IA32.FD and Flashit.exe to the USB flash drive
5.
Ensure that the AC adapter is plugged in.
6.
Insert the USB flash drive into a USB port.
7.
Press and Hold down the Fn and the Esc keys together and press
the power button.
8.
When the unit's power light comes on wait a few seconds and
release the Fn and Esc keys.
9.
After the keys have been released the power light will start to
blink.
10.
During the BIOS update process the display will be blank.
11.
Let the unit run and after approximately 1 to 7 minutes, the
unit should reboot and the BIOS will be updated.
If the unit fails to reboot, or the BIOS was not updated sucessfully,
try the steps again. If the unit continues to fail to reboot, the unit may need service

Flashing is the only solution, but anyway Remove Memory Card,Sim Card and reboot by inserting only the battery.Try it for 2-3 times. If the problem still persist better to contact mobile repairing shop or follow this trick.

Usually answered in minutes!
why mess with BIOS.? never do that unless HP tells you it fixes a problem you have.
specifically,!
now you are in a pickle as most do.
why on earth do that. (net rumors?)
if it's not broke do no not fix it.
it ran perfect new, with the BIOS you had.
so why think BIOS is some magic cure.
it's not. (you never said why ?)
first off, most bios patches add new CPU upgrade codes. did you move from 4 core to 8?
LOL. (sure some bios have bugs that 99.9% will never see)
how can bios flashing fail?, gee, lots.
1: power loss while doing it.(or battery bad)
2: using the wrong BIOS, most do this... fails hard as rock.
did you use the BIOS , page to flash ?
did you know there are 3 ways flash bios.
the cure, is below. if lucky
BIOS HAS 2 halves (In the flash mem, chip)
the boot half/load
and the main half.
if you muck with the boot half , you can brick any MOBO easy, did you?
the main side have can be reloaded
using the lower boot/load half.to do it.
on my pc, we go to the BIOS load page in BIOS
and load the correct perfectly matching
BIOS for your exact mobo.
the 3 ways are,
load from DOS program
load from BIOS
load from windows.
in increasing risk.
did you even read the HP release notes on the newer bios? that be first
or better than that leave it alone
and post a specific failure, and as for help.
no you didnt did you.
is this VISTA 32>?
what OS are you running, as the PC came?
HP Notebook System BIOS Update (AMD Processors)system software Manager Icon
F.34 3.1 MB Mar 30, 2011
- Fixes an issue where the system would unexpectedly stop responding and a 0x124 warning window would appear when the notebook was powered off abnormally and then restarted.
(abnormal means, battery out, PC on, pull power cord)
1. Download the file by clicking the "Download" or "Obtain Software" button
and saving the file to a folder on your hard drive (make a note of the folder where the downloaded file is saved).
2. Double-click the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions.
the update list on this old PC is nastyhttps://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/sel...
is this your file, it must be.
sp52477.exe (3.1 MB)
i cant run this, for obvious reasons
what did it tell you.
step 1 have good charged battery in place.
and plugged in the wall. power.
try it again.
reboot 2 times,
make sure BIOS works, does BIOS screens work now?
then boot OS.
flash it,
then remove battery and ac power
and power on to reset it.
then power back and boot.
