If your TV works for an hour or so then it is probably not a connection problem. It sounds like a component is heating up or there is a problem with your picture tube. Make sure the TV has enough ventilation around it but it maybe time to think about getting a new one.

I had a similar problem but mine was just red specks that showed up in dark scenes. I opened up my plasma and found the adjustment pots that are labeled Vsc, Vy. I then marked the factory default with a sharpie first. Then I lowered the Vy a little and my red specks disappeared. Now my tv looks awsome again like it was new.
check the G2 voltage on the tube base board it should be +- 520 V >if this voltage goes high it can cause scan lines and bright colours/loss of RG or B
yes! those are the screen and focus adjustments. 3 for screen, 3 for focus. try this. go in menu....turn down color, brightness, contrast all they way down. you should then have no picture, but in your case a little red. then go to back of tv and turn those 3 screen adjustments all the way down. slowly turn the screens back up until you get barely a picture. because remember, your brightness and contrast is all the way down. the picture should be dim but seeable and with red, green, blue adjustments, make it a black and white picture. when balanced..... turn up color , brightness, contrast in menu. enjoy!
I would suggest either the Focus block or the RED CRT drive board either one of those items could cause the symptom. A defective CRT could also, but a shorted CRT doesnt usually go back to being normal
im assumiong you checked the tint in the menu options. if not go check it. other wise it sounds like you have a weak tube, or you do not know how to adjust the screen brightness. this is how i adjust the brightness (you dont need to touch the focus). turn the red up until your whole screen is tinted red, then do the same with the blue and the green. then go through each one and turn down just a little till your pic darkens a little. good luck
Remove front speaker grill and access panel...... Turn red screen control down a little... Cause may be bad CRT.......................................T.
