The black ink nozzle in the print head might be blocked. Print a test page with a huge black image. Like: just start word, create a square through "illustrations" and fill it completely with black. Print it once or twice and see if finally the black ink may come out.
Through printer properties (windows control panel) there might be additional cleaning options.
I don't think that has anything to do with reaching the board of 5000 copies. Your cartridges have no chips on them or anything. You might actually have a problem with your black ink cartridge, as the printer is telling you. Remove the black cartridge, gently wipe the contacts with a dry cloth and put it back in. Hold the "resume" button (triangle in circle) for about 10 seconds to try and reset your cartridge. If none of that works, I suggest you buy a new black ink cartridge.
There should be a setting in your PREFERENCES that allow you to set it to black print only. Select it as your default setting so that you don't have to change the settings each time you print.
I presume you changed the black cartridge. Did you get any error? Try wiping the face of the cartridge with a damp cloth. Sometimes the ink dries up and the jets can't work.
I changed the black ink in my printer, now it will not print everything in black!, I changed it back to the old ink, but still not printing black ink, what do I do?
