The fuser unit is likely finished and will require replacement.

The scanner lock is situated at the left side of the flat bed scanner. switch it to UNLOCK.

The problem is most likely with the laser scanning unit. Check for damage to Flat Flex. Cable between formatter PCB & laser Scanner unit. Checks the FFC ends for damages. Repair the ends / Replace FFC if required. Service or replace the laser scanner unit if problem persists.

Hello you have to open the HP LaserJet Scan.
In the HP program group, select Scan to start HP LaserJet Scan
Select a scanning destination
Click Scan.

The detail isnt clear.

But if your machine doesnt do copies, scan or send faxes it would seem that ther is a problem with the scanner unit on your machine, Lift the ADF unit (as if you wer to do a copy from the glass) keep the lid open so you can see the scan unit, do a copy and check if the scanner unit moves and check if the bulb is burning.

These machines are notorius for dodgy formatter boards.

But i would start with checking the scanner unit.

check under general reference (link below). it should mention how to fax, e:mail and copy. if you copy to file / pc that should work as the scanner.

otherwise make sure the "scanner" facility is installed as some MFP's do not come with all facilities installed. (and therefore may not give the option on the screen.)

Go to hp.com and download new firmware.

A Scanner Bulb Error message is received as a result of the HP LaserJet 3300mfp series product scanner’s inability to find the home reference point.
SOLUTION:
Perform the following steps to walk the scan assembly from the home base and resolve the issue.
1. Remove and replace the power cord from the unit.
2. Wait approximately 35 seconds for the scanning assembly to “walk out" and then quickly remove the plug again.
3. Repeat steps 1 and 2, three to four times until the head moves approximately 1 inch away from its normal resting place.
4. Replace the plug and let the product fully finish the boot cycle.

I have a different HP MFP, but had a similar problem. HP helpdesk wasn't able to help (had me update the bios, restart, etc.). I stumbled upon a similar problem on FixYa and found out that some of the MFP's aren't compatible with an office on a multi-line telephone system (something to do with analog).

I contacted my telephone service provider (which happened to be cable) and they made some changes to that line while I was on the phone with them. Worked perfectly ever since. I hope this helps you. Good luck!
