How do I fix my KDL55HX750? It will not turn on. No sound or picture. Just 3 blinking red lights. What should I do next?!?

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices.

Blinking codes details of many popular brand TVs are given. Surf the site with patience.
If blinks continue without any pause, the main board is faulty.

If the fault is detected with SMPS [Power supply board],it will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time. Even though you can make it right, it will cost around an amount equal to the cost of a new board; including the cost of (spare parts + service charge) More to say, most of the spare parts to it will be difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. This is true to most of the flat panel TV power supply boards; irrespective of its brand and screen size.

The infrared receiver light just keeps blinking red and TV won't power on. Tried unplugging for a little while but didn't help.

kindly count the blinking led to diagnose where the fault came from..

also try the initial check....open the back cover and inspect the power supply board for any bulged capacitors inside..

I have a Aquos LC-37GP1U new out of box. Have the blinking light issue. Power on for 2 seconds and then shut off. Replaced the power supply board as it was cracked. Still didn't help. Should I be...

Hi,

You have to check if the replacement power supply board is the same part no. as the original one, it is printed on the board itself.

I don't think that the fault came from defective electrolytic capacitor because like what you have said, the unit is new out of the box and you've already replaced the power supply board which is most of faulty electrolytic capacitor came from that board.

You've mentioned also that the original power supply board has cracked, I've suspected that the main board also has been damaged because the blinking led light error codes will be encountered if the power supply board or main board gone to malfunction. If you've confirm that the power supply board is the same part no. like the original one, then I would advice you to replaced the main board.

Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Blinking red light of death. 5 blinks. After holding power button while power on for 1 minute and then pushing agaiin I got 1 blink. Set has not been used that much as it is in the bedroom. One source...

Hi Billy,

5 blinks is an error code for 5Volts malfunction either on the P board(power supply) or the A board (main board).
1 blink is an error code for A board (no communication between the system CPU and panel CPU).
Since you've got 2 error code which are both related to A board, I've suspected that the A board is already faulty but you have to confirm it to isolate the P board from fault.

You have to check the 5 volts output of the power supply using the multimeter set in DC voltage measurement. Measure the output of the power supply board through connector P7. If you are getting 5volts on that connector you have to replaced the A board to resolve the issue. If there's no 5 volts output then the P board is faulty.

Faulty electrolytic capacitor can drop the output voltage. Let say you are only get 3 volts or less on the 5volts line, then suspect faulty filter electrolytic capacitor. Most of the time it has a physical indication of fault like bulged/dome at the top and can be easily identify through visual inspection like in the sample picture below.

11_22_2011_12_37_20_am.jpg<<< with dome at the top

If the 5volts line dropped its voltage, you have to disconnect the load and then re-measure it (do it very quick, don't let it turn on for a long time without the load). If the 5 volts line normalize after disconnecting the load (A board) then the fault is on the A board and not on the P board. If the 5 volts line still not intact after disconnecting the load, then the fault is on the P board (5volts line).

I've provided a link below for the suspected boards.

A board (Main Board)
P board (Power supply board)
Note : before ordering online, double check the part no. of your board that is printed on the white sticker on the board itself to ensure you will get the exact replacement. There's some instances that the manufacturer used different version of the board even on the same model no.

Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Ratings and feedback are highly appreciated.

Hope I helped you.
Have a nice day!

Panasonic TH58PX60U TV comes on for 5 to 15 minuets and shuts down with 4 red flashes on trouble code light. Is this the power supply board?

4 blinks Power SOS P Board
Try opening it first look for some bad connections or so if they are none use a hair drier and heat the board looking for the place that creates the 4 blinking then use the hair drier on cool to cool the place and get this time little longer.

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. This issue is related to power supply, the processor detects a fault and the TV shows the blinking codes. It is a fault monitoring technique developed for TV's. You must unplug the power cord for 4 hours, and then try again. This will sometimes correct the problem.

Secondly, try the whack/vibration check. This will sometimes get an errant connection or cold solder joint to reactivate. Just smack the set vigorously in various places around the cabinet with your hand or fist in search of the magic touch!

However, if you need permanent solution then you'll need to disassemble the TV and look for swollen capacitors; loose wire connection and bad/cold solder joints. Also check for burnt components on the board. You will require replacing the components and/or connectors inside the TV.

Before replacing the power supply I will suggest you to check for swollen capacitors and/or burnt components on the power supply board of your TV.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks

Rylee
