Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ3 Digital Camera Logo
Anonymous Posted on Nov 06, 2011

When I plug my Panasonic DMC-TZ3 camera into the USB port on my Dell Latitude E5500 laptop computer, the computer is not finding the hardware. This has worked fine for years, and stopped working soon after I backed up my hard drive onto a Maxtor external hard drive. I know I could download the pictures by just connecting the data card, but I'd like to keep doing it the way I have before. Any way to fix this?

Do any of the USB ports work with other devices?

If no, RMB click on "My Computer" guessing you have windows, from the drop down menu, LMB "Manage" LMB Device manager and check in the window to see if there's a yellow question mark by any of the devices. If so, you need to re-install the driver for that device, possibly this will include your USB drivers.

You should find the drivers you need either on a disk supplied by DELL or go to their web site, follow links to support / downloads, entering your PC model details as you go. You should find your way to drivers to download. While you're there, download all and save to disk, just in case you re-install your system again.

If other devices do work, there's some sort of conflict going on. the easiest way around this is to buy a universal card reader, a small box which reads all kinds of cards and connects to your PC via USB.

I cannot find a download for my Panasonic DMC-TZ3 for Windows 7

You don't need any special software.
The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program, such as Windows Photo Gallery or Picasa.

When I plug the camera (Panasonic DMC-TZ3) into my mac nothing happens on the computer but the camera says it is syncing. Do I need to instal any software fist or am I missing something? Thanks

If you're just trying to download your pictures, use a card reader. When you plug it into a USB port on your computer, an icon will appear on the screen with a name like "noname" or something similar. Just double-click on it and your pictures open. typrice_64.jpg
