My Samsung HLP-5063 DLP starting making a loud buzzing noise recently. ... I've only used it to watch TV for a half hour or so at a time, as I have a new LED LCD in my room. ... You need to add a "ground lift" to the power cord to your system. What you're hearing is a 60 cycle hum (electricity) from house power.

Hello Jjwpod hi, to find where the trouble is, you need to place ear near speakers, you should hear a humming sound, adjust the volume up or down, the humming sound also goes up or down, this means your amplifier is working, no hum means trouble in amplifier.
summary:
No hum: trouble in amplifier, speaker connection.
Humming, but no audio: problem before amplification, most likely the Sound IF stage.

have someone check speaker ground to the TV chassis. Your speakers are picking up reverb from the Video Signal.

replace te audio cable:

a bad ground could cause this hum

Thank you for the info. I would suggest to take it back from where you bought it from if the store will allow a 90 days return and replace it for a new one, or you can contact Toshiba to get it fixed under warranty. There should not be any humming noise on the speakers.

check the capasitor near the plyback value 250 volts and also the B+ capasitor

Some of the larger TV's are DISH ready, meaning that they have the tuner inside for SAT TV. The SAT tuners often have an internal fan that makes a humming noise. If it sounds like something other than that, you might have a bad component in your sound circuit that allows 60 HZ hum through the speakers.


If it is a rear projection LCG TV it has a fan in it to cool the bulb. You will hear the fan if you listen closely. It usually cannot be heard over the volume.


The fluorescent bulb and electronics inside make humming sound naturally. Kinda like when you turn on a lamp, and some lamps make a low humming sound.
