On the front of your cdrom by the power button there is a small hole. Take a paperclip straighten it out slide it in that hole directly in the center and push slightly don't force the door will open when you push on the release button with the paperclip.

SOURCE: My Cd-Rom/DVD-rom don't work. It

According to the Toshiba website, the scsi cd-rom/dvd-rom does not require a driver to operate, but the driver for the scsi controller card it plugs into may need to be reinstalled or updated. Visit the following link, and go to the section labeled scsi cdrom/dvdrom. At the bottom of this section there are two links to websites where you may be able to find the drivers for your scsi controller card.

The problem is, The driver of the DVD ROM is not installed on your pc. The fix for this one is by installing the driver of your DVD ROM. Usually driver of the DVD ROM is included on the package of your PC and comes with the CD.

SOURCE: CD drive refuses to open or run even when I press the button

Select a cd rom device, then add another boot up disc, then see if it opens. Will it take a cd rom better than a floppy? If so use the boot up disc, rather than an older and possibley more damaging floppy.

Cd rom drive door keeps opening up when in, it won't start cd

Try to this. Start - Right Click My Computer - Properties - Hardware - Device
Manager - CDROM - Properties - Disable. See if it Stops then enable it again.
Look at cdrom button it might obstructed or pressed in, try pulling and pressing. Or it could be a program/driver problem. Try restoring your pc the day before it happen.

I would like to dissable my cdrom from opening when using edject button. This way someone could not remove the cd

You can not configure your drive to do that. What you could do is disable the device entirely to do this open Control Pane select System click HARDWARE and open DEVICE MANAGER find your CD ROM right click and select Disable This Device.
If you do this you can Enable The Device the same way you Disabled it.

My cd rom wil not work it just quit working for no reason it will not play any cds or let me burn anything

First open the "Device Manager" to check for any error messages related to the device and click on "Start" and select "Control Panel" .

Now double-click on the "System" icon then click on the "Hardware" tab and click the "Device Manager" button. A new window appears, and displays whether the device is working properly. If there are any errors, click the "Troubleshoot" button and follow the given onscreen instructions.

Check the DVD that you are trying to use to and ensure that it is free of dirt and scratches and the proper format compatible with your drive.

Now uninstall any drivers that may be on your computer from previous DVD drives.

Now download the latest driver updates for your DVD drive model from Dell website & install it.

Also check on Dell website that your machine has the minimum requirements to operate the drive.

Now restart your computer & check your DVD drive.
I hope issue has been resolved.

CdRom drive not showing up on computer. CdRom works when push button but nothing comes up nor shows up in MY COMPUTER.

Check if the CD ROM is being detected in BIOS setup or not? In case it is not detected in BIOS, then make sure that all the cables that connect the ROM to the mainboard are okay. They should not be loose or broken. You may also try replacing the cables.

In case BIOS detects it but windows is unable to detect it, check in Device Manager to see for any disabled or unknown devices. To enter device manager, click on Start >> select RUN and type "devmgmt.msc" without the quotes and press Ok. Enable back the device from there and then check.
