Samsung F480 - unable to send email

I have checked the POP3 incoming and outgoing addresses and can receive emails no problem. Unfortunately after trying to send the emails and "no response" message is shown. Any ideas of how to solve?

    Dear Crashmech

Thank you for this input. I am aware of the need for the smtp settings for outgoing mail and have placed them into the email account setup already. Unfortunately the problem still exists.

    Thanks for trying though.

I have the same problem! I am not very technical so any easy to understand answers would be really helpful.
    Thanks

Well the POP3 settings are for incoming mail, you need to obtain the "SMTP" settings for outgoing which can be obtained by your email client i.e gmail, hotmail ect...

ok, is your handset a generic one, meaning does it have network software on it or does it have samsung softeare on it, if the handset has network software on it then this may be the issue as most handsets have nwtwork software on them which can make handsets buggy, the solution i can say is to either so a "Hard reset" (master reset) or do a software update, to do this you will need to visit

    http://www.samsung.com/uk/support/downlo...

then download the pc studio for your computer, then on the softeare it will have a handset update section, follow the on screen instructions to upgrade your handset to the the latest version this can fix the issue.

Unable to receive my e-mail but can send one

It seems like you are using one of the mail client, like outlook express, MS Outlook, Mac Mail etc.

If that is correct, kindly check the Incoming and outgoing Server ports setup on your email client and replace the same with the correct one, in case you want can find the list of most common email domains server address in below mentioned link.

you will need to check the WAP and Email setup settings with your service providers, you can also go the the Email setup wizard and enter the following settings.

I have a samsung b3310 on o2 and it wont let me send photos to my email address. I contacted o2 and they said they cant give me the settings because its pay as you go. I have never had this with any other...

It would help if you mentioned your provider, ie "live.co.uk" "gmail.com" etc. Enter everything as normal (email & password) & change these options. I know only these 3 so far, Hotmail, "***@live.co.uk" Account type -POP3-, Incoming -pop3.live.com-, Outgoing -smtp.live.com- Yahoo, "***@yahoo.com" Account type -IMAP4-, Incoming -imap.mail.yahoo.com-, Outgoing -smtp.mail.yahoo.com- GMail, "***@gmail.com" Account type -IMAP4-, Incoming _imap.gmail.com-, Outgoing -smtp.gmail.com These should be the only changes you need to make, always check the secure connection. If you still have problems setting up change your username to your full email address, you'll find it between your email and password. Hope this helps as it took me months to figure out the simple switch of "co.uk" to "com" or deleting the "4" from "imap4" in the incoming sever. Hope these tips help!

How to set up your hotmail account on samsung jet. i am on o2. it keeps telling me that i need an incoming server type (POP3 or IMAP4) an incoming server & outgoing server(SMTP) i assume that these are...

I have the following (and complete) list of settings on my Jet for my hotmail account and it is receiving and sending emails correctly. (After seeing 6 posts and none with a full solution, something needs to be done .. RAGE!!)
Account name - "random name" SMTP sever - smtp.live.com SMTP port - 25 Secure Connection - TLS Incoming Server Type - POP3 POP3 Server - pop3.live.com POP3 port - 995 APOP login - unchecked Secure connection - SSL Download limit - 50 IMAP4 incoming email - New (faded out tho) Retrieving option - Subject only Keep on server - checked My address - [email protected] User name - [email protected] Password - **my hotmail acc password** POP before SMTP - unchecked SMTP auth. - checked Same as POP3/IMAP4 - unchecked User name - [email protected] Password - **my hotmail acc password**
Some tech info to help problem solve. POP3 is the technology involved with receiving email, SMTP is involved with sending. (Lots of people saying they could receive but not send, but their SMTP settings weren't correct)

I added my hotmail account to live mail, but it isn't pulling any mail. Isn't this an email client?

hotmail is also an email client...but you need to change the settings for your pop or imap server!!!

  1. select pop3 as your incoming server.
  2. type "pop3.live.com" under the incoming pop or imap server.
  3. enter "smtp.live.com" under the outgoing smtp server.
  4. make sure the outgoing authentication check box is done.
  5. type your full hotmail email address under the email user name(e.g [email protected] or [email protected]).
  6. enter your hotmail password.
  7. make sure do not download email is not checked this time
  8. click finish and highlight the pop3.live.com account
  9. click properties and go to the advanced tab
  10. make sure this server requires a secure connection(ssl) is checked under both the incoming pop3 and outgoing smtp servers.
  11. type "585"under the outgoing server (smtp) and "995" under the incoming server.
  12. click ok and close.
you will be able to receive your emails for sure.

Pop email settings with godaddy domain

I FINALLY GOT THE ANSWER! I ALSO HAVE A GODADDY EMAIL ADDRESS AND USE A HTC TOUCH PHONE FROM SPRINT. I've entered the following settings and my email now works like a charm! This is for a POP3 email address, not an IMAP email address.

You cannot send the email unless you have a sprint email address. Email must go through the Sprint server in order to be sent (incoming mail does not).

Call Sprint Tier II (877.345.7895) and ask them to set you up with a User Name and Password for the outgoing mail server. All the rest of the settings are as follows:

EMAIL SET UP Email Address: [email protected] Your Password: the password you use to access your go daddy account Check SAVE PASSWORD Click NEXT UNCLICK TRY TO GET EMAIL SETTINGS AUTOMATICALLY FROM THE INTERNET. Click NEXT. Your Email Provider: Internet Email Click Next Your Name: Dales Wife Account Display Name: 'GoDaddy Email" or whatever you'd like to call it so you can identify this account (you can have several email accounts sent to your phone). Click NEXT Incoming Mail Server: pop.secureserver.net Account Type: POP3 Click NEXT User Name: Again enter [email protected] Password: Enter your password again Check SAVE PASSWORD Outgoing (SMTP) Mail Server: smtp.sprintpcs.com CHECK Outgoing server requires authentication UNCHECK Use the same user name and password for sending email Advanced Server Settings: DO NOT Check: Require SSL for Incoming e-mail DO NOT Check: Require SSL for Outgoing e-mail Click DONE to return to previous screen Click NEXT Outgoing Server Login: [email protected] Password: When you call Sprint Tier II they will ask you what password you'd like. Check Save Password. Automatic Send/Receive: I use every 5 minutes and it doesn't seem to run my battery down. Click FINISH. This has been driving me crazy for two months now so I really hope this information helps somebody else out. Best of luck! NOW, if anyone knows how to remove those annoying envelopes when I access my mail - I could use the help. There are three envelopes there (one for GoDaddy mail, one for Outlook and one for Picture Mail.) I do not use Outlook or Picture Mail and would love it if I could remove those.
