It's very annoying they don't tell you how to do this. I looked here for the solution, then found it myself.

You have to depress the blue Fn key and simultaneously depress F10. Notice that that key has a blue "eject" symbol on it.

Click on COMPUTER, and highlight your cd/dvd drive.
Right click on it, and select EJECT. It will eject your cd/dvd from there.

This doesn't solve the problem as to why your physical eject button won't work, but it's a "work around" until you can get the button issue fixed.

You've tried the touch keys at the top of the keyboard -- those buttons light up when you touch them -- control the video, audio and the far right is the dvd eject button

Okay here is the solution and I know it is going to sound dumb, but this will work. You will need to do the following to get the media control working so you can eject cds:

1. Power down the lap top
2. Remove battery then press hold down power key for 10 seconds
3. Re-install battery and power back up

Supposely, it is due to a electrostatic issues which dell claims. Personally, I think my step 4 is going to reallyr rethink if I want to keep my studio 17.

Is it stuck or just not responding when you press the eject button? Well , there is a manual way of ejecting the cd tray regardless of whether the laptop is on or not, just take a needle and gently insert it into the fine hole on the tray ( its meant for this purpose) that will release the lock inside and pop the tray out.. you may then hold and and pull it out!!

You are a champion. I have all the disks for re-installing, but would never have guessed that quickset has to do with the touch buttons. You fixed my problem and made my day, thanks Mate!

The only way to fix this is issue is to remove two scres in the battery compartment.  Remove the fromt media panel.  Behind it, the wire needs to be removed (mostly it is crooked if you look at it closely).  The removal is tricky.  The connector opens up.  Don't pull the wire.  Open the connector by lifting it towards you.  Remove the wire.  Reseat it correctly (so it is not crooked).  Close the connector.  Re-essemble everything.  Your Dell is now fixed!.  Also solves the standby eject issue!

Just restart the PC. While the PC is logging out, you should press eject button. And you can have the CD get out of the drive.

You can go to my computer and then you will see the dvd drive showing. It will probably show the title of the cd. Usually it is the D drive. Right click it and click eject. That should eject it for you.
