I studied my galaxy note 10.1. when i use the original wall charger it charges well, fast an no red cross appears. when i hook it to the usb of my laptop then the red cross apears and the tab reports that it is not on battery ( look at the time on battery it does not change) the battery also remains at the same charge level that it was when i hooked it up. when i use the car charger it does the same as with the laptop. my conclusion is that when hooked to the car and/or laptop the battery does not charge, but the tablet is running of the power from the external source and not the battery. this seems to be a very clever move from samsung to preserve the battery when it cannot be charged by the device it is hooked up to.

SOURCE: Hi! My Samsung Galaxy tab

Hi toledomayor ,

This could be a manufacturing defect , in this case you would require to contact the manufacturer or the relevant service center for a replacement of a faulty cell phone.

This should not be a problem with any cell phone regardless of the brand , the most that can happen is that the battery goes empty , but as far as the case you have described is concerned , it's seems to be like a one off manufacturing defect..

Hope this helps...:)

Why is my galaxy tab2 shut down and not turning

You have a contact issue with your battery. ..even plugging it in you must have a good connection with the battery. I would try this take a piece of cardboard or paper and fold and wedge it in between the battery and the outer edge of the battery recess not where the gold colored terminals are located. Sometimes the battery don't make proper contact and this will ensure that it does. After doing this plug it in and let it charge for a while. When the icon for the charging battery gets to about the middle of the battery then hold down the on button until the icon disappears let go of the button and see if it works ok

My battery isnt charging even though it says it is.

Try a different cable and a different charger if you have them. Also try just connecting it to a PC's USB port. Of course, the PC has to be turned on. Even though it will say that it isn't charging, it will charge very slowly this way as long as you're not using the Galaxy Note the whole time. So try that over night.

If none of those work, then you may have a bad battery in your Galaxy Note. How old is it? If it is still under warranty, you may be able to get it repaired for free.

Galaxy Problems

Sport mate, but it appears your device is communicating with you but you aren't decoding. *smiles*

First, you've got several problemchallenges all present in your device/tech gadget.

MTP- media transfer protocol...connected
USB connected.

To resolve, navigate your way to Settings/ developer options/USB debugging

Click on this and get the ? off, first.
Click again and get the ? back on.

Next, select from the displayed menu the option for USB charge only. EXIT.

Problem 1 solved.

Battery with red X marking on it while on display.
Battery is no longer considered GOOD? by your phone/tab.

Needs to be replaced.
Problem 2 solved.

Why Cellphone/tab not charging?
Check the recommended AC charger rating for your device/gadget, first.

Check the charger rating you've been using to see whether these values match.

Output DC=????
mAmps=????

Lastly, issue with Indpsert SIM card.
You need to confirm whether your cellphone/tab is locked to a particular Network carrier company or not.

If locked, you need to jailbreiak/unlock it.
Otherwise, a technician may have to check the SIM card terminals for you.

Hope these tips help. Feedback please. All the best.

Galaxy tablet has frozen

Try the Reset button first - on the side...small hole. use paperclup with end extruded. Press in and hold down, turn unit on, release. If this does not work you will need to starve it of all power. no AC and remove the battery. Keep disconnected for at least two minutes. Reinsert the battery, fully charge, the turn on.

How do I know when my Samsung Galaxy Tablet is charged? How long should it stay plugged in?

The Tab takes quite a long time to charge (not sure why). Note that the Tab cannot charge from a computer USB port (only from the included AC adapter. When the Tab has finished charging, it should put out a notification (open the notification drawer by pulling down on the status bar) saying the battery is fully charged and to unplug the charger. Other than that, you would have to install a third-party app like Smart Battery Monitor (see here) and watch that to see when it is full.
Hope this helps, Alistair
