Lens errors (Zoom Errors on FinePix) are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ...Here are some troubleshooting steps that you can try that may (or may not) correct it. They only seem to work for less than 40% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty (or repair cost approaches that of the camera), they're worth that try. Some of the later steps do involve some risk to the camera, so carefully weigh your options before deciding to conduct them:

Once u zoom into the picture that is very far away how do u keep the picture zoomed in after u snap the shot ...

Once you've framed your shot (zoomed in) and taken the picture. That's it, the picture you've taken is the one in your view finder, and that's the way its kept.

However, if you want to zoom in further, you can using the software you were provided with your camera, you can, you can also zoom in using your camera menu. Once happy you can then save the edited picture. But this time its a digital zoom and it will reduce the resolution. The picture won't look quite as fine. It will be a balance between picture quality and the extent you want to zoom in.

These cameras are on the list of the ccd problems.
Here is a link to the site you may need. Canon will repair it for free if it is the ccd problem. Note that they will pay for shipping both ways as well if it is the ccd problem. Call them on the toll free number.

Can't get a picture on the screen - just shows black. When we turn the camera on the LCD screen displays the function choices and menu options, but will not display any image. If we take a picture using...

Check the SD card, they have sliders on them which lets you "lock" the card so nothing can be put on or taken off of it. Make sure that is off. Then go through the menu on the camera and try to format the card again. If the card is bad it should give you an error message when it tries otherwise you should be good :)

Zooming in.

Your camera jumped out of gear. Open the front metal cover and disassemble all arm working with the main motor gear and try to reposition the red dot on the big gear with the small gear side by side. Presto now your camera is aligned. Place all arms back in order to your new alignment.you got your self a working camera. D: 3403 3404 mean error = some thing is block your lense and stopping the motored gear. For future referance don't drop the camera agian, next time it might be a expensive fix next time around.
