Hello, I am almost certain that the problem is with my computer network settings rather than the wireless adapter above. I checked the adapter with a different computer and it works fine. On my desktop when I start windows the icon of the two little screens is showing as not connected as well as the 'D' icon for D-link. It also shows that some networks are detected but when I click on the adapter the windows message is showing that there are no networks. Windows device manager says that the device is working ok but when I try to check the status ,it is greyed out. I tried the 'repair' facility and it does not work. I checked the zero configuration utility and it is on. Occasionally a D-Link configuration page appears but I do not know what are the correct values. I think that the computer knows that the device is there but it does not switch it on. I have tried a lot of the forums advice but I was not successful. I feel that something is corrupted in my windows xp network connection settings so your advice with a check list what to do will be appreciated. Thanks.
Hello
Sorry for the delay in responds.
From what i have read. you have already tried most of the fixes. There is still a couple of things we can try.
Instead of using the repair function, rather go to device manager and uninstall the current driver by left clicking on the device and uninstalling it. After that, you will need to download the latest available driver for your current OS from the link below.
Click HERE to navigate to link.
Then reinstall the driver again.
If the problem still persists, you will ultimately have to reinstall your Operating system due to registry errors which causes the problem.
Try the driver installation, and let me know what happens.
Please feel free to let me know if you have any questions.
Kind Regards
Andrea
Thank you for your message. I had previously tried uninstalling and re-installing the driver but forgot to mention it in my note. I would like your assistance in the following. D-Link brings up a configuration window with some empty values in it and I feel that when i complete it correctly ,it may work. Are you familiar with this and if so what are the correct values to be inserted in the empty fields? Thanks
This values should be auto filled when the correct software is loaded. When there is registry errors, the software does not alway communicate with the hardware correctly. In some cases the empty fields is also left blank.
Are you willing to try a reinstall of XP itself?
I would say that is the best possible solution for this particular problem.
Let me know, i will gladly assist.
Kind Regards
Andrea
