On my IBM Wheelwriter 6, the key is striking but nothing is printing.

At first it just wasn't printing the bottom of the letters. I checked the platen and it is was up but clicked down when pressed. Now will not print at all.

SOURCE: Letters are not printing fully.

First press firmly down on both ends of the platen it will snap into place if it has worked out of place. If that dosen't do it the plastic cap on the print solenoid is probably cracked. We sell them for 20.00 includes shipping and installation instructions.

SOURCE: Wheelwriter 6 typewriter hammer no longer strikes

It is pretty common for the pad on the solenoid to strike the keys wears out, and for the batteries to be dead for the memory. Your machine probably needs a good cleaning, oiling, and a new pad for the striker. about $100.00 in the shop.

My IBM 6783-2 will not print any letters and the hammer is not striking the wheel

Your print solenoid probably has a broken cap. There are some companies that sell the "kit" with instructions on how to replace the cap.

IBM Wheelwriter 6 - Ribbon doesn't lift high enough for the key that's pressed to print on paper. Ribbon advances OK.

If theribbon dosen't lift at all see if the black gear on the R. side of the printer will move, if not w3iggle it and it should free up they get tooth for tooth with the motor gear. If it only lifts partually thereis an adjustment on the roll that works with the black gear. BE SURE TO CHECK THGAT BTHE PLATEN IS FULLY SEATED IN THE VSIDE FRAMES THEY DO GET LOOSE!

Ribbon doesn't raise up enough to let the letters strike it. Is there an adjustment somewhere?

If it dosen't lift at all wiggle the large black gear bakand forth a few times they do get tooth for tooth.

I have a wheelwriter 6 type 674X IBM typewriter. I do not have a manual, and it seems like it has started striking softer and not making a very legible letter. How can I change the setting to make it...

First try a little WD40 on the print solenoid plunger, If that dosen't help you probably have a broken plastic print solenoid cap. We vsell replacements for 20.00 including instructions and shipping.

Put in a multi part form and type if the carbons come out OK the the ribbon isn't lifting, Wiggle the big black gear on the R. side of the carrier back and forth. They do get tooth for tooth when they get old. If the print on the copies id bad or not there you need a print solenoid cap. We sell them for 20,00 including instructiond and shipping.
